I said it once and I'll say it again, Qualcomm isn't going to be sinking resources into designing their own mobile SoC IP when you can buy a good PowerVR or ARM IP block off the shelf. Snapdragon in phones is a declining business with competitors and lawsuits at all angles. SM isn't going to continue to sink R&D resources into this.
GPU team is doomed just like the in-house ARM core. Once the management figure out the cost cannot compete with the commercial IP, they will cut it relentlessly.

@owb: the gpu org is a mafia of many sorts not just Chinese.. internally it effed, to outsiders it's amazing.. "best gpu" in the world! Even aliens are scared of it..

Qualcomm is going full NXP. They don't need GPU guys. I think the idea is to buy an off the shelf GPU design from ARM or somebody else and let Snapdragon in smartphones slowly ride off into the sunset. The vehicle doesn't presently need as powerful a GPU for infotainment since people aren't playing Call of Duty on their dash. Self-driving will use custom silicon, not GPU.
