Your boss or your bosses boss will stop by your cube and say something along the lines of "let's go for a walk," or "can you come with me for a minute?"

He/She will lead to a conference room where HR rep will be. Boss will say they are firing you due to business reasons, hopefully they will thank you for your service and wish you the best in the future. The boss will leave and HR will take over.

HR will explain your severance. (Last year everyone got a minimum of 10 weeks pay and any vacation time they earned.) They will explain unemployment and how Cobra works if you still need insurance.

They will tell you where to find some boxes and you are free to go.
