Thread regarding Sears layoffs

FEBRUARY 23RD

I keep hearing they are going to be having layoffs this day, also I heard they are going to be be doing away with commission sales as well. If this does happen are they going to offer people in those departments there average hourly or are they going to be like what Circuit City did and show them the back door and keep a few left over and offer them a little above average pay.

They may get rid of HA commission in select stores but I doubt they would do it company wide. They'll probably handle it the same way they handled electronics.

To be honest, as a commission salesperson in the HI area,I would not mind it at all if commission was done away with, with no cashiers anymore,I spend most of my day taking charge payments, ringing up non commission items, clothing since there is also no cashier in men's cash wrap, plus trying to sell something that does pay a commission. Today is truck day, so I will also be putting stock away also,so not having to worry about commission might be a blessing, except to people in HA who still can make money on commission.

It will be like Circuit City. Bill Savage knew going hourly was a mistake. He jumped ship to Walmart before it was too late.
