5g has potential, but it's not expected to replace 4G or fiber. It will be a complement. There will always be applications that are better suited for other technologies. The more interesting potential is for Verizon wireless to extend into the home. That's why there's a lot of interest in it.

To the troll that is claiming bye bye last mile employees. If 5g was the answer to all the companies troubles than why would they spend a billion dollars trying to break the union over the last strike. Makes one wonder how realistic and wonderful that 5g network really is. Oh and wait till the general public starts to get educated on the radiation that all those 5g micro cells on every other pole is emitting in their backyards. Get the punlicensed relations team ready to start spinning the truth.

When Is 5G Happening? The official 5G standard, known as 5G NR (new radio), probably won't come out until 2018, with full commercial rollouts in 2019 or 2020. But that's not stopping the wireless carriers like Verizon and AT&T from getting a jump on the technologies of course it woud be a good news article, but that will be the extend of it, no more

Verizon and AT&T both insist they'll have "5G" in 2017. This won't be 5G. It'll be non-standard, pre-5G. It could be used for backhaul, or home Internet, or for internally knitting together networks that customers then experience using 4G devices. T-Mobile, for its part, has pooh-poohed these pre-standard rollouts and said it'll be full in with 5G in 2020.

After the undeletable-super-cookie fiasco will people really trust or want Verizon to have additional info about for instance everywhere their car goes?

Lol, so you can reach your 5gb data cap in 2 minutes instead of a week.

Also, there is nothing verizon cannot f-- up. Put this on the list.
