Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Quit, retire, or just move out of my way, you whiny little b--ches

Waaaahhhhhhh. I can't work from home anymore. Where did my raise go? My supervisor is spending too much time making graphs and tables that no one looks at. Where's the Honeywell I signed up for 20 years ago? Where's my retirement? What happened to my raises? Who is this Celestica you speak of?

For those of us who would KILL to work for a company like Honeywell, kindly get out of our way. Eliminate all retirement benefits? Should have been saving or marrying into money. We all cut our own deals in life, no one owes you shizzz. Haven't gotten a raise in a tough aerospace environment? That's on you. Lead your team, your line, your building, your plant. Spark your team to do better. You all put Kaizen on your LinkedIn profiles, yet the resentment and anger overpowers you to make any, let alone little changes. You've poisoned the well, and it's time to go.

Will I work for much less than you? You bet your a--. But am I really working for less, or are you just out of touch with expectations built upon a post war expansionist mentality that died decades ago? Because I've been outside that big corporation mentality, I'll out perform you. Because I can adapt, I'll out perform you. Because I have that spark, I'll out perform you. Because I'm always learning, I'll out perform you. Because continuous improvement starts with me, I'll out perform you. Because I'm always thinking big picture, I'll out perform you. If not him, then me. If not her, then me. If not ancient out of touch employees clinging to an ancient business model, then me.

Stop with the first world b--ching about how Honeywell screwed you. Change starts with you. Go to work tomorrow realizing that there's a ton of outsiders that want your jobs. It's a different world out there kids. Either get on the bus, or get out of my way so I can get on board.

And cue the haters in Three......Two......One.......

Those that don't know their history or doomed to repeat it. Of course you think you are the first person to have the "conquer the world attitude". Newsflash dummy... there were legions of people who were all just like you describe. After these companies kick your teeth in few times, you will be singing a different tune. If you were really as good as you say you would be consulting in the open market, like many of us have done in years past. Don't worry, us old timers will be gone soon enough along with our fat 401K and kick a$$ old school AlliedSignal/Honeywell pension.

You just keep working, so we can enjoy sleeping in everyday....

For those of you who don't know, our OP has taken the name of a fictional character that was portrayed on a Tampa, FL radio station, and the show came under investigation for possible Nielsen Ratings tampering in 2015. Show was cancelled in December, 2016 on local Tampa radio station, WBRN. So, OP, it seems you picked a loser for your moniker, on your loser of a post.

Lol. I went from intern to Sr Manager in about 8 years at Honeywell. You know the biggest lesson I learned? Don't give a sh-- or Honeywell leave you scarred. I hope you'll learn that sooner rather than later.

As for me, I've kicked Honeywell to the curb and found a much better company to work for. Talent can actually make a difference here.

Work hard and dream big, son, but heed the wisdom of those before you.

Making a name for yourself at this company isn't as easy as it would appear by reading this site. The majority of Honeywell employees more closely emulate the good traits that you mention than the whining and b--ching that you see here. (Thankfully)

The OP's argument essentially boils down to: "there exists human beings, somewhere on this planet, who would take your Honeywell job for less money and/or inferior working conditions. Therefore, you should never complain about the company or strive for improved work, quality, compensation or treatment"

This is essentially the old, "don't complain about mine safety, somewhere in Africa people are dying for 30 cents a day in the diamond mine" argument.

However, just because it s---s worse in some 3rd world country doesn't mean we can't strive to achieve greatness here...

Uh..cue this hater...I left Honeywell eight months ago, our quality manager left in December, our site leader left last summer, our HOS manager was RIF'd, our operations left a year ago, our material manger left last fall and my engineering counterpart left two weeks ago. All of us were top performers and found better jobs outside of Honeywell. So enjoy the bus ride, dude and keep drinking that Honeywell Kool-Aide!

Yes - this is the talent Honeywell needs to retain. Awesome for you. Too bad I have expectations and aspirations of a better work place and a company that actually cares about its employees. I do feel a little betrayed to be honest. After given so much for so many years - I feel like I waisted my talents with Honeywell. The silver lining is having the clarity to see, thank you Honeywell. You can add another name to your tombstone in a few weeks.
