You can tell oracle hr is besides themselves when they post nonsense like this @2vdm!
@Post ID: @LZIQ3w9-kxw: good for you! May I ask your general age? I'm still at O - I'm in systems, but I'm not a developer. I'm worried about finding another job - I've got nearly 20 years at Sun/Oracle. Being in my late 40's I am really worried about my age being a barrier to HR teams.
I have been a hardware developer in MA for almost 5 years. Although I was not RIF, I am leaving Oracle. I started looking for jobs after they announced the cancellation of Sonoma in early December. I knew there was a good chance I'd get let go. I got 2 development job offers here in MA and accepted one yesterday. I also got a job offer in San Diego. It is a good skill set to have in this economy even in MA. Best of luck! It took me about 3 months to get a job offer, and I have interviewed with over 20 companies and sent out over 100 applications.
I am in San Diego. I got a couple interviews. The software job market is not bad. The hiring and interview process is long. It could take anywhere from 2 to 6 months. So be patience. You will find a new job. It's just a matter of time.
