I would keep your resume ready to go just in case. We were told frequently that there is plenty of work, but then were blindsided with RIFs. Do good work, don't make enemies, and keep your resume up-to-date.

There are always RIFs. In theory it's supposed to people working in areas that require downsizing. What I've noted is there are two classes. Those who are favored by senior management and those who are not.
The more you go with the flow the better. That means people with integrity get the short end of the stick.

Last week I was told (by a director in PNB line) that a large cut of 10-15% company wide was coming very soon. However, he said it probably wouldn't be uniform, so even if true, doesn't help plan. But given recent financials, continued RIFs seem very likely, since execs don't really know alternatives
I'm very very nervous now. My manager told me Pittsburgh is safe and no store closings or RIF's. just built a brand new store in North Hills of Pittsburgh. WTF?
