Anyone have info on Kmart transforming some of their stores to "Simple Stores"? I heard there have been meetings for this transformation.

There will be pog's just not nearly as many changes and as often. No more spending 12 hours ever 6 weeks to add 2 sku's to the shampoo counter. They are supposedly only allowed to cut in new items with an update, no moving any items around, just simply cutting the new item into the counter where another item has dropped or dropping a facing of another item to make room. New pog's are only to happen when there are at least 30% new items.
Also, they are supposed to limit layout workload to 48 hours max in a week.
Simple store will also change the process for working freight.
Many changes coming.
Last ditch effort to try to find a way to run a store without any employees.
Guess there will be no ads anymore then right?. Set that ad, would ya? Override's anyone?
They don't care if you are trying to fill an order because it won't be coming from a store here shortly folks. Wake up. Geez.
I was briefed on it this morning....seems they are rolling it out in phases. I saw the booklet on it but haven't looked at it yet.
They are simply going bankrupt and will close all stores soon. Simple
Please know that all forms of 'Dollar Stores' have planograms or layouts. They just don't change them on a regular basis.
However, they are operated terribly with bare minimum cashiers and a MOD, but most have far less square footage than your average Kmart/Sears.
Ref Kmart/Sears ...Why don't they just close already. Trying to operate with reduced payroll and floorstaff is absurd..dumb..stupid..irresponsible..non competative...non customer oriented...unsafe...and so on.
Oh yes and lets just put out merchandise anywhere cause that works...brilliant ideas.
Glad those who are making these decisions are having so much fun with it because the employees, trying to operate and maintain, are not.
Simple store is get rid of most high paid (Ha,Ha) jobs i.e. pricing, leads, backroom, receiving and let other lower paid associates do the jobs. There will not be one particular person doing a job but man people doing the job. That is the way I understand it.
this is very telling. It will further discourage shoppers
No planograms?? This is news to me, WOW. So how do we find something if we are trying to fill an order. How stupid!
Writing is on the wall... please embrace what's coming and don't worry about new processes
Sounds like a dollar general to me.
We are already on the "one touch" program and the backroom locator was discontinued quite awhile ago. Found out recently there were no new planograms. Does anyone know if they let the layout person go? Ours is still a full timer.
No it's a new idea. They are doing away with planograms and everything is going to be placed wherever they can make it fit.
Is this the program where nothing is back room located? I think it's called one touch or something like that?? Anyway it's a disaster. We were told everything must go from the truck to the floor, over heads over stocks, all of it. Only big seasonal items, furniture, etc could be in the back. What happend was NOTHING got back room located because they were afraid of getting in trouble. We had piles of merchandise with no budget to schedule people to put it out to the floor and no one would back room locate, so it was an absolute nightmare trying to find anything.
Yea I heard from one of old coworkers that their store is. The way they understand it is that there no planograms anymore. You will just put the product on the shelf just where ever you can.
