Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What is it with the AWFUL music playing in the store???

The "Christmas" music was fairly hideous over the holiday, now we are back to the same old hideous music we always play. Most of it is for teenagers and twenty somethings. Some of it is borderline inappropriate and s-xually suggestive. Sears' average customer is over 55 years old. It sounds like a bloody teenybopper store (Hot Topic, Hollister, etc) and it is driving me crazy!

I can't imagine how it must sound to the older customers... Hey, maybe if they get rid of the hiphop crap and play normal music (like soft rock, oldies) sales would pick up!

The music they play in Sears is more fitting to the Kmart demographic...younger people shop there WAY more often.

You can listen to whatever music you want when you shop online. They seriously want to drive the shoppers out of the stores and onto their mobile devices and computers.

Don't like the lines? Shop online. ;-). Don't like the music? Shop online. Prices in the store too high? Shop online. Don't want to wait on the phone to change your delivery date do it online. Stores too messy and can't find what you want? Shop online.

The writing is on the wall folks.

Couple years back music was bad...complaints...

Went on Pebble and reported, as did others, even tho its frowned upon. But it worked.

You seem to be operation under the assumption that 1. Sears has the money to buy new music and 2. That there are any customers in your stores to upset

Talk about awful music. How many of you remember having to listen to this ditty about a hundred times a day during the holiday season at Sears?

We had many, many complaints from customers. Everytime a customer complained I encouraged them to make a complaint to management directly as the manager ignored any complaints from the employees. After a ridiculous amount of complaints the music finally got better, not great but better. There was nothing like coming to work at 7:00 am on a Sunday morning with the song "I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my hair back and forth...." screeching over the intercom.

The demographic for Kmarts are over 50. Maybe they should play a little Perry Como or Bing Crosby.

Black Sabbath would be OK, would fit us boomers. There is NOTHING Black Sabbath sang about that is offensive in the way that current music is.

REALLY hate the stores that think loud music=dynamic and hip.
