Major IBM Layoffs happening today (Jan 5th) for US GTS division workers. Totals unknown, but I am one of them...What a shame this company has become and will continue to be. Was told my job was being moved to India, yet Ginni just sat in Trumps panel of CEOs to keep jobs in the US. Trump should "fire" her from the panel and stockholders should follow suit

Not good.
GTS SO in particular is in a downward
Spiral, especially in Canada. Accounts are at an all time low and if clients still around just. Barley hanging by a thread (service repatriation)
Wages are Too high in most provinces so they shift to one (NBrunswick) because of their recently negotiated tax incentives; all
Other jobs have been terminated and/or moved overseas. No FT front level staff remain, 75% of the workforce is contractor based and the rest of the 25 are
Brown nose exec/managers.
Stay away from this
Organization at all costs
Nothing to see here
Folks. Same Old story!
Are they reducing the salary to 50-70%. And, what is the reason for layoff/movement to Baton Rouge. Once of my friend was not communicated the reason behind asking him to move to Baton Rouge office.
I think that IBM should just move all there jobs overseas there do not care about the people that work for them it's all about money. Soon all there clinent tell will just move to another company's I will say that there manergers are the big problem there's way to many for just a couple of people that work for them just shut down all the offices and don't spend so much money on all the dinners and there conv conventions what a waste of money. Sorry to everyone that's working for IBM you just a number no matter how long you work there.
GBS (Digital) colleagues were laid off on the 5th as well, due to failing to meet utilization targets in 2016. Offered relocation to Baton Rouge delivery center for a pay cut of 50-70%. 3 months notice and 1 month severance.
Most of our group was let go yesterday as well. This is less than two years after being outsourced to IBM. We are being replaced with contractors for onsite support. When we were outsourced our group was either given a one year offer with a severance from out former employer or what was called a "long term" offer with no severance from our former employer. It turns out the "long term" folks really just worked for about the same time as what our severance would have been if we had taken the short term offer. So they used us up for the time would could have been working elsewhere and then spit us out.
I had heard all of the horror stories about IBM, but they were even worse than what I thought.
Remember to sign up for the Trade Adjustment Act even if you do not want to use it. You may have co-workers who will find it helpful. https://www.doleta.gov/tradeact/2015_amend_benfits.cfm
How many layoffs and what divisions/locations?
What are the details of the package? Same as last time, i.e. 3 months until separation, and then 1 months severance?
To anyone who gets RA'd - please read the threads at Watching IBM facebook page as to what to do and whether you should sign the RA agreement right off. I'd at least wait to sign until you have read through those and understand everything. I'd reach out to Sara Blackwell, who is representing a bunch of IBMers who didn't sign and are pursuing class action. It also says there that several folks got 40% more by not signing.
