Not sure where you are getting your information from The Oil Insider. But Great Yarmouth was not allowed to sell direct to customers, Weatherford stopped this in 2014 and every order had to go through Aberdeen something a lot on companies refuse to do purely down to the massive mark up the sales team slap on components. There is also the small detail of we were a cost center and ad such we didn't have a sales team anyway.

What is Brexit? I cannot believe that someone would ask this question. It just goes to show the intelligence level of the non informed people who visit this site and work for Weatherford. Google it for Christ's sake.

Whoops, that includes me!!!!! However, I did have the sense and foresight to take the severance package about two years ago. Now I need to quit reading this ridiculous blog and the separation will be complete. BTW, there is a life after Weatherford and it is good. Take care, my friends.....

Why work for a company that spends its time trying to be like the big dogs while constantly failing? WFT is a follower. The sloppy seconds of the oil patch.

WFT UK Yarmouth/Tewkesbury & Arbroath closures have nothing to do with Brexit. Yarmouth in particular was closed due to them consistently missing sales targets & MFG time frame targets. This coupled with a shrinking in the O&G market & being further away from the main European O&G hub (Aberdeen & Norway) meant there was very little in the way of business justification for keeping WFT in the south of the UK.

The Arbroath closure is simply the next logical/business contraction point as WFT moves towards having centralised hubs in key O&G zones. Furthermore, although WFT are pulling out of Arbroath this does not mean they are pulling out of the UK

Most of our work will be handled in Abu Dhabi. We are transferring and training them now so they will be the number one repair facility. Other key locations are in the works as well. The US will be reduced to just a skeleton crew.

USA and UK workforce not on Krishna's agenda only countries that can make it the cheapest will survive so guess the child workers of Sri lanka and India will stop making tee shirts and shoes and start making WFT tools
