Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Department Manager layoffs

As a 10 year associate, who has bled Lowes red and blue, this is disheartening. It's a terrible feeling not knowing if I'll still have a job when my vacation is completed. I've had my ups and downs with specific stores, but I've always believed in our core values and I've always delivered successful results.

It's a horrible realization to know that, in the end, I'm just a fiduciary decision on a balance sheet. Not to be judged by my individual and team achievements, but to be categorized as a controllable expense.

Yes- I too believed in Lowes and their "core values". It seems as though the joke has been on it's employees. Shame on them. I do not know yet if I still have a job. If I do- I will find another one soon because I do not wish to continue to work for a company that has so little regard for its people. It's truly upsetting. If I no longer have a job I will still find another one. I will never shop at Lowes again- and I will make sure my extensive Family does not either.

Hang in there. I left Lowes 2 months ago, and ill admit, in part due to these rumors of a DM layoff for the last year or more. I was with the company for 4 years, DM the last 2. I worked at a high volume store, so most people didn't even think about a layoff, but I was always skepticle.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to make a really sharp resume, and put the feelers out. I ended up getting a job working at a hospital in Engineering after about 2 months of looking and making up a good resume. I believe my experience as a DM at Lowes got me that job, so keep that in mind.

Worry about #1, yourself. You'll feel alot better when you start job hunting and feel more secure in what you can find if a layoff does come.

Good luck.
