Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

What's the surprise???

I spent 19 years with Cablevision (Bronx) and left in 2015. I saw the writing on the wall before the BS took shape. The Dolans were selling their stock. A french entrepreneur was looking to buy. Cut-backs and management shake-ups were enacted. So, I left on MY TERMS. And when a new company buys another, there's always trimming done. Just to satisfy stockholders. And now technicians will be under a new company. Becoming contractors. Say goodbye to 40-hour week schedules. You'll be on standby. And guess what... it makes business sense. You can thank ObamaCare for that. And though I despise unions.... ya should've voted "yes"... just for spite. You're screwed either way. So, from an ex-technician.... take this advice... get the f--k out. Find another company and begin anew. Do you have a choice? How certain are YOU of your future with Altice? Charter, Comcast, Verizon, AT+T will take YOU in a heartbeat. Or, would you rather wait till they call you to return to the warehouse at 1PM, to hand in your ID, meter and keys to the truck. You know the drill. But do it... ON YOUR TERMS.

Hey Anonymous.... missed U guys, too. The grapevine says another buyout offer will be made, lowering the minimum eligibility. No doubt... it will be the final chance you guys will have to leave with some dignity. Altice would rather go this route instead of laying off guys. If guys leave... it was their choice. Firings or layoffs can stir trouble. Altice will HOPE you guys grab it. And I'll say it again.... TAKE THE BUYOUT, your 401K and the remaining Cash Balance and plan for a new future, either retiring (like moi) or beginning anew. Also, prepare for pieces of Cablevision to be sold off. That's a no-brainer.Unprofitable regions will be gone. Are U in that region??? And so, I bid "Adieu" to my fellow techs. And hope you come to your senses and.... GET THE F--K OUT!!! Peace.

I saw the writing on the wall in 2012 when people in various departments started disappearing for one reason or another. Cablevision was like the mafia in that regard. One day you notice so-and-so isn't here anymore and a supervisor or HR hack would announce "so-and-so is no longer with the company, don't ask why" and you'd be left to speculate

hey what's up RM, how you been doing? You bailed at the right time!

Many techs want to hang on to the words of management in hopes of work situation getting better. They bought in to this phantom contracting company 'ATS' and think it will provide them with an opportunity to broaden their skill set and last 5 more years. Seriously doubt that will happen.

The only thing that is certain right now is that Bronx techs made a horrible mistake by voting NO and will soon suffer the consequences as a result. Altice will take full advantage of the fact that they cannot organize for the next 12 months.

across footprint, they've already gotten many techs to voluntarily leave but it's just a matter of time before Altice start making many more techs disappear (involuntarily)

God Bless.
