Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

C'mon- we know there are some leaders watching this site that still have some shred of integrity left-it's time to STAND UP & do the right thing

Managers, directors and above- where are you? Like another poster stated, how can you look in the mirror, face your children, grandchildren, spouses, friends- do any of them realize what kind of leader you are?

I hope- those of you that still do have any integrity left, will rise up, find each other and start doing the right thing. We KNOW all of you aren't bad. Please. If you have any kind of leadership power do the right thing.

Raise were loaded in GCP last week, distribution planning for your team is due tomorrow. You must not be a manager of people in Aerospace. The calendar of events for these activities is on the HPD/GCP for managers website.

Raises? I haven't heard anything about raises in AERO yet. I also may have been mistaken about the Q1 furlough. Did I misinterpret Darius's announcement?

Furloughs for 2017? I was just in a meeting where it was announced raises of 2.5% are in the plan for this year. Was that just another carrot in front of our noses?

I meant to add a 1 week minimum furlough per quarter for 2017, for a total of 4 weeks at a minimum.

The next furlough was announced in the town hall this morning. This furlough is scheduled for Q1, but expect a 1 week minimum furlough for AERO throughout 2017 and into 2018. Also keep in mind the RIFs will also continue along with sweeping changes to the retirement benefits which will force even more attrition.

Any manager willing to conduct an involuntary RIF should also be willing to walk out with us. "Just doing my job" didn't work for the nazis, so don't expect it to work for you.

I can't struggling with what's more idiotic: comparing RIFs to the holocaust or wanting managers to walk out with the RIFfed.

Hey LgryK26-1tem. All raises if any were not put in last week. MY entire site isnt due until the 12th. This manager seems to be honest. Please check your facts next time.

I totally agree. Let me be clear (if the message below was directed towards me). I'm right in the trenches with the rest of you. I am not in a protected class, I am not friends with Tim Mahoney, I do not have any RIF protection at all. In fact, I expect to be RIFd this year along with many more good employees. I essentially, have nothing to lose and Honeyhell has no power over me. When I get my RIF notice I'll hand my badge, phone and laptop over and then walk out of here. Simple as that.

Hi! Raises for whom exactly? I never claimed to be ultra connected, I merely pass information on when I get it. I'm just a mid level peon in Phoenix.

Now that we are all being honest, why don't you tell us what raises were loaded?

Hey Mr. Manager, if you're so well connected, you would know raises were loaded last week. Come on man, you're not as honest as you're playing yourself out to be.

My plan is hopefully by mid year or earlier to get off this sinking ship. Can't wait to give them my notice. Not gonna ride it to the bottom. Good luck to all of you.

I agree with the sentiment that this used to be the best company around. Cliff Garrett is probably spinning in his grave right now. To keep things in perslective, just remember these things and then the decisions will make sense:

  1. Only consider the short term.

  2. Eliminate as many employees as possible

  3. Do not be concerned with the longevity of the business - longevity is NOT the goal.

  4. Introduce as many cost saving measures as possible to maximize the profitablity of the company in the short term only.

Friends, the business will be sold off and parted out. Nothing will stop that now. Our cost saving obsession has brought us to the bottom of every customer and supplier satisfaction survey with no recovery planned or intended. The emails you receive from the ALT suggesting otherwise are purely for keeping up appearances.

I urge all of you to make the best decisions for yourselves. If that means riding this ship to the bottom, that's fine. If that means looking for something else, then do that. But always remenber, things are never going to get better here. The raises will not return and if they do, they will likely not keep pace with inflation, the furloughs will continue, the benefit reductions and reductions in force will also continue.

For anyone waiting the storm out; there is no recovery. This is how it's going to be until AERO is sold. Godspeed my friends.

This was a great place to work many many years ago. The present so called leaders, and the folks that are called HR, have run this place into the ground. You can attempt to spin this off as a disgruntled employee, but that is not true. Most are loyal employees, but it's easier to make us all out to be a bunch of bad attitudes. Thank you to the folks that are actually helping inform the rest of the employees. These leaders we are following now are seriously dropping the ball. A company should NEVER let rumors run rampant. It's almost unbelievable.

There are way more of us that appreciate you- friendly Manager ( ;

Please don't stop sharing what you can with us, just knowing someone in management at least cares helps me feel not all is lost.

Your integrity is intact and respected. I wish you were my manager- I can't talk or trust him/her at all.

We are all in this highly unstable environment that is causing so much stress and anxiety. I am looking for another job but 20+ years here and over 58 doesn't help much.

I wish you many blessings, wherever life and your career takes you.

And thank you from my heart.

I hear you. I like to think that I'm not included in that group of managers described in this thread. I realize that it could jeapordize my employment and that's an acceptable risk. Part of having integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching or when it's hard thing to do. I will not let the company compromise my integrity or my character. If telling the truth ends my employment, so be it. I will not stop informing the employees when the company is going to affect their lives.

I encourage other leaders and managers to do the same. Aerospace is a sinking ship but you can do the right thing in the last months of life it has left. I sleep good at night.

You're putting your job on the line. The risk is relatively low, but it's there. The big thing is it's for people who post things about you like:

"do not have sympathy for them (management)," @mec

You have no self respect or dignity and you're just in it for the money. No one else will hire you @idb

You're not a leader @bqi

And that's all just from this thread. It gets a lot worse in other threads. If I were you, Id keep my mouth shut. To hell with the heroics.

Thank you for your post Mr. Manager.

I've known you were in here and as far as I know you've always been up front at least in this site and I for one appreciate it.

I hope you continue this journey as long as you have the desire to be different than your peers.

I'm on my way out and then if this site as I've been forced back to a Honeywell location that I have no reason to be there and will not interact with anyone there. Just sit in a cube after driving two hours to get there.

All the best to you and I mean it

I would like to take this opportunity to chime in on this topic. I have been known to post information in the past in order to inform anyone reading these pages of upcoming actions. As mid level managers, we are not typically in a position to influence RIF numbers or participate in meetings relative to the general direction of the business. We are for all intents and purposes, "hostages" the same as the rest of the employee population. I use the term hostages somewhat loosely since any of us can leave at any time but my point was this; please don't be so quick to villify managers. Sure, some of us are dishonest and conniving, but there are others like me who want to give the rest of you all as much information as possible not to stir up anger or resentment, but to educate.

As hard working, dedicated employees, you all deserve much better than what HON is giving you. That's why I chose to post emails and information. I felt it was unfair and backhanded for the ALT to hide things that directly affect you.

That being said, as most of you have figured out, the direction of the busines is changing. HON is getting out of the repair and overhaul business, the production business, and the employing people business. Some of you may recall the email stating that Honeywell is transforming into a leading cyber technology company. In shirt, Honeywell is going to be selling licenses to 3rd party companies to build and support "Honeywell" products. This eliminates the need for ISC, most of engineering, customer support roles, inventory, etc.

The 1st step is to eliminate or mitigate legacy costs. In other words, retirement cost exposure. This why changes to the retirement policies continue to roll out. This is aimed at forcing older employees out but also limiting the cost exposure in the future. Other changes such as vacation policies and working from home are both aimed at forcing attrition.

Honeywell is not concerned with the "brain drain" because this knowledge is no longer needed as the businesses are being sold off. R&O, engines, etc will all be sold.

What does this mean for you? You can try to hang on as long as possible, or you can leave. Many are not in a position to leave but others are. The conditions in the company will never improce. This is as they say, the new normal. There are no plans to cease cost saving measures in the near future. Many more RIFs and furloughs combined with the upcoming changes to the retirement policy will continue.

Everyone must do what is best for themselves.

C'mon people, do you really think that anyone with any self respect or dignity would willingly lead at Honeywell?

All of these "so called" leaders are just in it for the money.

Honeywell is better known as "Moneywell" and that is not a term of endearment.

Known if these people would be hired to lead men and women today at any other company

All management have been fully aware of the pain they have inflected on the minions. They have sat back with no push back to the evil empire that created this mess. Now they have to live with their silence allowing this to happen. Do not take sympathy for them for tacitly agreeing to sell out their employees to prop up this sinking ship. Save yourselves and find the nearest lifeboat that cherishes employee contributions over the long term and not for short term gain (greed)!!!

my manager was one to VRIF, and I was very happy for him that he got accepted. I wouldn't ask him to lay his head on a chopping block for me. If I'm not willing to fight for myself, what does that say about me?

ok, but you're basically asking them to sacrifice themselves for you. I would expect many managers, directors, etc. have families they need to support, as well. Do not presume to know what others are going through.
