Just heard that the whole site will get moved to Munich. Not officially announced yet, but management chatter. Announcement will supposedly come in a couple of weeks. Can anyone confirm?
Of course, moving the people to another site is just a way to fire them without firing them, as I suspect that 30% of the people would take that offer, at best. Probably less than that. So ultimately, it is a headcount reduction in disguise.

So apparently the guys who got laid off in Nuremberg today got the ugliest kind of package Intel can give you. They have some time to look for a job internally, but if they don't find anything, they are out. Worse than ISP, actually.
The people who said last year that the packages offered in the first ACT round were the best anyone will ever get were right. It's all downhill from here.
works councill can do exactly zero. everyone at intel germany has a clause in their contract that allows "versetzung". it is legally ok and the only thing you can do about it is quit

Works council has very little influence on this. They also didn't prevent the Dresden site closure.
a lot of talk in the kitchens here in NBG today because a team of project managers got their package offers already. looks like mgmt is cleaning up before announcing the site relocation. i am lucky i was planning to move to MUC anyway
US site consolidation was a feature of last year's actions, including targeting individual contributors. This is fact. The same will happen in the EU - it just takes longer due to the previously mentioned Work Councils. It's not an If, it's a When.

Yes the split will be between new building and old building. You are in the new building you are ok. You are in the old building pack your bags for munich or just pack your bags.
heard this too, but what I heard is that the FW guys will remain. perhaps it would be too silly to move them to munich after they moved from dresden to nuremberg last year. but the feeling in management is that modem headcount is still 20 to 30 percent too high, because they compare it to qualcomm. so they want to cut down more.
