Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Store management structure

Anyone know what the new management structure will look like In stores? will it be one salaried manager overseeing the leads and supervisors? Just concerned at what this will look like when all is said and done.

To the person who posted below me about Sales manager 2 and JBM positions you are correct in your assessment of what is going to happen they are the first people placed.

Who thinks Jewelry Business Managers who are being replaced with Sales Supervisors will get a Sales Manager job? Sales Manager 2 also kept? Aren't they both already assessed to be the top of the Sales Manager pool? Just wondering if it is so obvious who gets to stay!

I have not heard much about the new store structure but I know sales level 2 are exempt. I know many managers taking a package. Do you blame them? If it does not happen now, it will happen later.

With all the cuts, there will be a lot more work, but Macy's does not care. They assume you should be happy to have a job.

Every area in the company is being cut but not HR. I thought HR was going to take a big cut from corporate to store line. Is this coming in later months?

Every assessment goes through the legal department before you get to package out. Peter Sachse is the only bigwig actually fired at the top.

Jewelry Business Managers are also a go forward and exempt from the process

Was told today that any level 2 managers (whole responsibility is commission associates, although several of us have commission reporting to us along with hourly) are exempt from process meaning they keep their jobs. Our store this is only cosmetics SM. Decent person but always unavailable and despised by all associates. Serves them right to keep people like this to run the stores.

I think that it is funny that a lot of SM's are going to HRM's and telling them that they wish to be packaged out and not be apart of any process nor wish to be placed. It serves them right.

we earned the 5 days of MTO for working Q4, even if you were on LOA. No obligation from Macy's to pay it forward on 2017 PTO not yet earned

Heard we may not get vaca time as cuts would be effective 2/15 and we would not have earned any yet

Your not the only sales manager that is wanting that option. I'm guessing it's 1 week of pay for every year worked plus all your vacay time. I'm just guessing.

Anyone hear what the package will be for sales managers yet? I'm thinking I'd rather package out than stay if it's an option.

None of this is good news

W.Shoes and Jewelry Complex managers are a go forward based on volume. Those position could go to an hourly lead or supervisor based on volume.

Store Sales Volume minus Ladies Shoes and Jewelry Complex determines tiers for number of sales managers, sales supervisors and team leads. Ladies Shoes and Jewelry Complex calculated individually based on volume. Final structure hasn't been released yet. Only one salaried SM per Shop minimum and the rest hourly is my educated guess.
