Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

Hang in there guys

Walmart is SERIOUSLY upping its game around here...the store is CLEAN, remodeled, and the brain dead employees have been replaced with fairly "normal" people...

and in the grocery section there are stocking EVERY thing imaginable...super hard to find products that I normally have to hit a specialty store for...Caputo Flour imported from Italy...

NO BETTER ON THE PLANET...on the shelf at Walmart for $3.33 a bag! 1/3 the price of the specialty stores!

Walmart means business..hard to believe...but I see it with my own eyes...they are going after Whole Foods and the like.

In my area the walmart's are still declining. The shelves are filled with holes. The associates seem to be upgraded but are helpless to do anything of value other than ask you if you need help finding something or directing to a smaller check out line. 'Can I help you find something', so out of date, and then to escort me when I just want directions. They really think that will help. I've seen a few new specialty products on the shelves. Kroger, King Soopers, and other brands are kicking their tails. To the guy who said they were taking on Whole Foods... I'll reply with I quit laughing.

Are u one of the brain deads that are being laid off? What a rude classification of work that u probably know nothing of.

It's easy to be positive when it's not your job on the line... if you get cut, I'd sure like to hear from you then..

Preaching about how WM "upping its game" is kind of a cruel, rude response to people expressing worry about their livelihoods.

How is this relevant to our layoffs?

WM is not that serious in grocery. I am fortunate enough to have plenty of competition in my area. I have Kroger, Meijer, Whole Food, Aldi and Trader Joe's to name a few.

One example is cat food. WM got rid of the variety my cats prefer. I now have to get that elsewhere.

I have 2 dozen food allergies. WM has the worst gluten-free section of all the grocery chains. Kroger blows anything WM has out of the water. Whole Foods, although expensive, is another great choice for me.

I may be unique in my needs and purchases. WM does not give me the choices I desire which is why I am grateful for the other grocery chains. Out of my grocery bill, I probably spend 30% of it at WM and the other 70% elsewhere. I have also found that WM is not always the cheapest either. Additionally, WM is always out of at least 4 items I have on my shopping list when I shop there. That is so frustrating. When that happens I get the item somewhere else, obviously.

So no, I disagree that WM is upping their grocery game.

Yes, we are on the rebound but this round of cuts/reorgs has nothing to do with how well stores do - this is all about optimizing internal processes and making sure we run lean and cheap.
