Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowes did this a few years ago where it laid off zone managers and rehired a few back as asm's poorly handled and does not build trust

With existing employees and or encourage anyone to be a manager there, and to also add a lot of hiring from the outside instead of promoting within just to save a $.

A real morale breaker operating like that. I think they should have waited a few more months until the new president is in office and business picks back up.

So you think they should continue to bleed on the hopes the bleeding will stop in a few months?

I agree part timers are there to get a pay check most of them young kids live at home with mom and dad and don't mind only 10 hours a week. Us full timers who work hard and care about the job we do make too much money with pay and benifits so this is the reward we get working short staff but expected to bring numbers up and good customer service. I love my job but the thought of starting over is very scary. Please pray for Lowes employees .

We are having the best year we have had in many years. We were fighting to get back to 20 million a year so we could see more staffing and better bonus opportunities. So all the effort we put in with short staffing to grow our business and the bottom line has will result in fewer full time jobs and poorly trained associates. Good luck everyone.

The sad thing is that there are stores, like mine, that have been busier this year than last year and we are already operating without enough employees to handle the traffic. They are saying this is to put "more face time with customers"? I guess I'm not seeing how cutting staff and consolidating puts more face time with customers. We have a hard time in my area to even get people to apply for full time positions, let alone part time. The ones who do are not motivated. I understand what corporate is trying to do, and I tryuly hope it works, but I feel like it may be a knee jerk reaction to a bad financial report in November. Customers appreciate employees that they are familiar with and that know what they are talking about; a bunch of new part timers don't have that knowledge. I hope they get the results they are looking for, because like everyone else, I also want my stocks and 401K to grow.
