Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

When will unions make it to Lowe's...

When will unions make it to Lowe's and force the company to work for their employees and help neutralize the power of corporate shareholders & management?

Lowe's would be great once unionized: higher wages, better hours, better benefits, actual retirement (not a 401K), and employee management!

I hear all of these people that get excited by the word union. I’ve got family members in unions and friends in unions. Yes they can help but they do require you to work and have skill. Much more than many lowe’s associates have. For example Fed ex has some pretty big trucks. My friend is required to wear gloves when loading them. The gloves track every package touched and he is required to be in the top percentage. If you fall below a certain standard. You aren’t fired, you simply aren’t scheduled. The strong survive the weak are filtered out.
Sheet metal workers union, each skill level you get paid more but if your work isn’t accurate on inspection, you won’t work again. Jobs have deadlines and if you miss yours you’re not scheduled.
Plumbers... same as sheet metal. You better work hard abs be accurate or you don’t work.
Don’t try to compare to teachers or police unions, they are simply on another level.

It is now 2020. Lowes employees in Tulsa, OK could still benefit from a union

The first step is the most important. They will do everything they can to suffocate your efforts while it's still in the cradle.

I was just layed off from lowes due to current downsizing. I wish there was a union, after 10 yrs of service 50 to 60 hours a week for assistant managers, and still not enough. Lowes corporate doesn't know what direction they want to go. They are always chasing what Home Depot does. They need to look within, from the CEO to the District Managers. They do not take care of their people, it's all about the Corporate office and Shareholders. Each year they spend a ridiculous amount money for their meeting in Vegas just to roll out another "new" idea. Which is BS. They will never surpass Depot due to lack of intelligence and always being a follower. Lowes will never Lead the home improvement industry, they can't even lead their people. Union guys, union!

Some people are truly stupid...Unions helped build the middle class from the 1930s - 1980s before the NeoLiberal types invaded govt. and got laws passed to protect the wealthy.

Effective unions control management, neuter CEO power and make for a better paying, safer work environment. Corporations, managers, shareholders, and wannabe managers fear unions because they are for the workers, not the wealthy. I suppose all of you believe that 401Ks are good things as well...geez.

I collect a paycheck from Lowe's and that's it. Workers need to take control of their companies again and help redistribute wealth in the country. Enough with the corporate welfare in this country.

No offense to the idea but I work at a Union Job now. they take about 2% of my paycheck, doesn't sound like much but its almost the same as the State I am in takes out in Taxes. What do I have to show for it? Nothing. I can't get them to pay my vision, dental or health insurance that I pay for on top of the dues. Cant get them to give me the training I need to do the work my boss expects outta of me. You decide if it still sounds like a good thing.

What I"m seeing out there is crazy. You think paying some union bosses your dues is going to improve your situation? It"s competitive out there, and technology like it or not, is making us more productive. So, certain job titles are going away. If you dont like your situation, it's a big country out there and under Trump's administration, it will keep getting better.

Most involved in cut backs are management positions that would not be in the union.
