This is such a bad look for the company. The corporate greed of Lowes is disgusting and makes me feel ashamed to say I work for these people. Going foward after this, with whatever happens to everyone, the company has lost any form of trust or job security. Managers kept will still be looking for other jobs and the motivation to move up in the company will be gone.

Hopefully the whiners are the ones to go away. Most employees anymore don't care one bit about the company unless they get whatever they want without thinking how it effects the company. Company's are just getting smart and not willing to fight anymore. They will make their business work around what you whiners want. Be careful what you wish for... Want more time off?? Now your part time. Want more sick days? Now you don't need them because you don't have the hours to support taking a day off. Want Obamacare??? The law says I can't give you more hours because I'll be forced to give you more hours than I can afford... Guess what??? I'll hire more poeple at less hours each so I can still run my business.
You really think unions are the answer? Guess it would be easier for you huh?? Pay someone to let other associates take advantage of you and your dues so that you can be forced to pay for things you don't want and can't afford.
I suggest you research instead of just listening to idealists tell you how things could be. They won't be that. There is always a give and take. Employees expect the world... Well they are going to get it... Full of opportunity to enjoy the world because their time will not be spent working.

I can not agree with you more, I stepped down to be a PSE an make more for my family but what happened was management told me that the area management does not like me cuz I hold there feet to the fire so they would not give me any contractors hence I could not sell any jobs hence not make any money but they got there biweekly fat check weither I made a sale or not our store lost over 300,000.00 in sales due to the fact that I called them the carpet every time they did not do there job. I have been searching for a better employer for just a few weeks an hopefully things will change for the better

Greed
For me, it's just a paycheck, nothing more. This is a monster company that doesn't feel anything unless they're corporate shareholders scream. Store employees are a means to an end, and that end is greed. If they really cared about customers they would treat their "first" customers better - their employees on the front lines in the stores. You know, the ones that "close" for you the way Lowe's always preaches?
When a company has to brag and advertise how much they help local communities, it's a sure bet they're compensating for something. They want people to spend money there and believe that it's really about helping communities. BS. It's about making as much money as possible, and that's it. How much of Lowe's is made up of PT employees? Fifty percent, more? Their CEOs are making record profits, but instead of having a business that has fewer overall employees instead of more FT employees, they help marginalize American workers and ensure their profits. I don't even want to know how much money Lowe's corporate shareholders have tucked away overseas to avoid taxes. And their retirement? A 401K program? Ah ha ha...that's the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the American consumer. Pensions were great, but that cuts into the corporate pigs' profits too much.
And for all of those out there who say "It's a business, that's what they do," just shut up. Profit and greed are two different things altogether.
