Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Menards

Has anyone heard of MENARDS? They will have Lowes OUT OF BUSINESS if they expand ?

Lowes does not have any new ideas, the computer system is awful that customers even complain how dated the system is and lowes doesn't have any new merchandising I am tired of looking at the same stuff on shelves even for the holiday days they bring the same thing for Black Friday special and I have been there for years .

it's time to retire and move on it's only going to get worst Nibilock doesn't give crap about us it's only about him

I worked at Menards for almost ten years- DM and ASM for most of those years. They treat their employees like absolute garbage. Product is cheap -almost like the Big Lots of the hardware world. They dangle bonuses like a carrot to string you along. Lowes treats their employees 1000% better.

This is not a necessary action. This is strictly based off of the greed of our board members and CEO. Lowes doesn't care about their employees enough to even train them properly. They know this new model is failing in other markets and now they are doing it anyway across the board?! Having a cookie cutter business model for every store across the country is a very poor way to operate a company. To say Lowe's "held out" for it's employees is a naïve stance or a blatant lie.

I work at a store where Menards moved less than a quarter of a mile from us last year. We have survived and excelled. There is so much emotion reeling around here and understandably so. Lowe's should act immediately instead of allowing people to fester and suffer until Tuesday. The basis of this change is good and necessary. Robert Niblock is not to blame. Lowe's is a publicly held company with stockholders. We are management heavy and that doesn't work in the current and changing marketplace. Walmart announced 1000 layoffs this week and The Limited closed all of their stores. I personally believe that Lowe's held out too long and probably on behalf and concern for it's employees and their dedication to us as a whole. There was no way to avoid this eventuality any longer. This is a hard time for all of us but we have to face the reality of the marketplace. Brick and mortar retail is fast becoming obsolete.
