My husband just got a letter in the mail, they are laying him off, he was just promoted to assistant store manager 6 monthes ago and now they are laying him off without severance because he did not have enough time in position! Absolutely furious!

I call b---s---! Ups does not deliver on Sundays unless the sender has paid extra for weekend delivery. Lowe's has not paid for weekend deliveries and ASMS will be notified in person!!! Perhaps you received tracking notification from UPS that a delivery is expected, but total bs you received a termination letter on Sunday. Quit stoking the fire!
No company in the world would send you a letter stating that you are laid off. Union or not Union it is still against the law. A layoff or a termination and any means or regards has to be done in person and a official letter has been signed and documented
