Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I stopped thinking the new Intel is like the sharp old intel the moment one of my colleagues was hired as an engineering manager...

....When she literally had no previous experience in engineering OR managing.... Meanwhile, lots is highly qualified cream of the crop engineers are asking me to find them a position in the wireless company I work for, because according to them things are pretty f'd up.

According to Excel screening, she had great track record.

No mistakes in engineering or management.

Intel management gets promoted much like govt employees. Seniority/URMs are favored to be management material.

Designations at Intel are just name sake, It is never about how good you are but how long have you been at Intel. Intel is anything but a software company, Bad stinking code design everywhere. A college student could design better code. Intel works on patch work when it comes to software.

SO I guess it's safe to assume that software engineering managers at Intel aren't really engineering managers, and it's nothing more than title inflation.

Noted..(Just threw a stack of Intel SW lead/manager applicant resumes into the pile group #4 that I'll look at after the other 3 piles...Not like they were good fit to begin with

.. but I was thinking what the hell, doesn't hurt to prescreen them.)

@tyq- as long as it's whites being passed up, there will be no lawsuits. Part of BK's inclusion program that Jessie Jackson ordered him to do.

I recently witnessed a guy who has zero SW experience and zero management experience become a SW team manager. WTF?

I don't think it surprises anybody anymore that hiring is based on race an gender first.

How long until the lawsuits arrive from this? It's not like they're hiding what's going on, and it's blatantly illegal.

BK doesn't have a vag. Maybe that's the issue.

OP - She got hired as an engineering manager because she has a vag. Experienced engineers or managers need not apply.

This isn't new, This will be the 5th instance in the past 6 months , I have heard of. The pressure to fill a req could be high, testing the current middle management's capability. Too bad they settle for less talented folks to find a cultural (current) fit. This is what the Intel culture has reduced to past ACT.

Intel is simply accepting they don't need talent, Because Managers anyhow will not have any say on whatever the upper management's orders.

Lol. As long as the BK regime is in control of Intel, the system will remain f'ed up.
