Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Layoffs in January 2017 at UHG

Someone told me that UHG laid off 1500 nationwide in January 2017. Is there any truth to it?

Thank you

Whoever wrote lay-offs are because of Trump you are sorely MISTAKEN! If anything it is due to Obama/Clinton globalization and corporate greed unfettered. United Healthcare/Optum is always beholden to the almighty dollar and stockholders no matter what they say about quality of care. So, to save money they hire lower paid nurses, administrative support staff and IT in many other countries. Many times RN jobs are handed over to nurses in the Philippines. For computer issue have to talk to people in India. Some did a good job but many times could not relate due to language issues or lack of training. Sad, sad, sad head of household and jobs for many nurses were lost to other countries under the 8 years of Obama. Have been writing to President Trump to try to get him to shut this down as it is not good for USA. This is especially harmful to women and minorities because these were once good jobs here for Americans.

Thanks to Trump allowing organization to have big corporation's majority of the workforce outside the country. United health gets all of its revenue from United States market/consumers yet over 80% of the workforce will be at offshore office (Yes, United Health has branch in India, except the branch used to hire cheap workforce). They have started firing people at US offices left and right. All executive were here in India a few months ago. People are whining about 60k H1B VISA when 100% of the jobs are being exported out of the country. And Trump will cut the tax for corporations to encourage job growth (sure, in India). Good luck everyone!

There is quite a bit of unsettled employees because there have been some layoffs in specific locations. It's the constant movement of town halls that are making people antsy. It would be nice if they owned up to what they are doing and get the negative anticipation dealt with. Some townhalls have moved four times. This is weird when a company made more than 20% more than the previous year. You make profits UGH? And you have layoffs?

Also OPTUM UHC groups in Schaumburg Il. Layoffs were replaced with quick software programs for admissions. Also, management consistently applying more difficult metrics in call centers, almost unattainable, then put long standing reps on PIPs who had in prev years were high performers...as to prevent collectable unemployment< forcing work at home to eliminate building overheads.
