I am being laid off. My manager tells me that "all part time people are being let go" and "you can not move from PT position to a FLEX position. Not allowed. Wow, so amazing that the people that are delivering the lay off messages are either misinformed or lying. Pull up the job postings in the stores in my state and their are MANY PT positions/jobs that are being posted. OK, so that was a lie. Layoffs are never easy. But if you are a manager delivering the message - tell the truth.

i think it depends where you work in the store? sales? support? ast? these positions took many cuts. sadly so many people have lost their jobs. some of them have many years of service. macys is truly cleaning house.
I'd probably say that she or he is simply both stupid and clueless. The right answer here is: 'let me get back to you' instead of pretending to know the answer.
