Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Simple Layoff Math

#math - Lets do simple math here. They said about 1% will be laid off. Over 285K people. That's less then 3K.. Ok there are how many stores?? Maybe what 2200.. If there are 13 Department Heads and they are keeping 5. That means according to what people think 8 per store fired right?? 2200 x 8=17,600. That would equal to over 6%. The 1% is an ASM or 2 per store. Department Heads will have new roles and time to find another job in the company.

The theft part is being fixed.. If you don't have a receipt you don't get a Merchandise Card. You get one that requires your identification to be used to redeem. This way Thieves can't sell them to anyone. They have use them. That alone will cut down on the theft since they can't buy drugs or booze at Lowe's yet.

That's absolute right about full-time employees being laid off. In the true spirit of Corporate greed and selfishness, the positions that corporate wants to cut are the jobs of EXPERIENCED people who have given years of their lives to a company and have slowly worked their way into semi-decent playing jobs. This is a lesson for American workers: Don't believe the garbage about "hard work and perseverance paying off." The truth is the more you give to a company (and consequently the more you earn) the quicker you will be given the axe. Companies have learned the easiest way to cut large numbers from their expenses is to cut the people who earn the most money, in the case of Lowes, that means ASM and DM (associate store managers and department managers). The rest of the low-paid hourly part times employees are barely worth firing because they are already cheap slave labor. So who get fired by Lowes? The people who have worked hardest, worked longest, and have because of their "hard work and perseverance" finally gotten to a place in their lives where they might actually feed a family, send their kids to college or buy a house on their salaries --- Yes, these are the people Lowes wants to demote or fire. Thank you, Robert Niblock, you absolute horror of a human being and American. Another corporate thief fleecing middle America and shattering it's lives and dreams.

Keep in mind 24 stores did this layout in 2015. I'm confident spring hire is factored into the math but US stores will be affected. Believe around 1730.

Ever wondered why Lowes 2nd in home improvement? Here is a suggestion and my thoughts..

Hire Frank Blake here is some of his accomplishments.

Empowered his people, reward his people, reduced unnecessary paper advertising, stopped building stores, streamlined RTM process, reduced unnecessary HR positions to one per district, etc...

In a nut shell, corporate learned to trust his department supervisors, thank his people's with rewards, stopped all the ads being throwing away weekly, reduced work and time for the RTM , where can assist receiving, etc...

Ever wonder why we have the same item but different item numbers? Ever wonder what the HR does all day?? Wonder why department managers feels like an over paid CSA (no responsibility) Red Vest Training..lmao I was here a week before I met my department Manger and he was my mentor, had red vest before meeting him. Snyc up demotovated me since the hard workers equal pay for those that does minimum work.

Simple math.. Average salary for an HR.. 50k x 2800 stores, that's a saving of 140 mil a yr.. hmm sounds like a saving to me and increase share holdings..

Just my thoughts about what is happening in Lowes. I'm sure others feels the same. Just think about how the CSA ideas can help the company grow leading home important, but we don't make 6-8 figure salary so they don't care.

My wife worked for Kohl's. They have a business model close to the rumored new Lowe's model. They have what are called "Leads". She was a Lead which is a defacto DM for only a little more pay than those on the floor with her. She was FT with benefits. This business model does not require a Lead to be FT. They did have what Lowe's call ASMs (4 per store) and they were on the floor 90% of the time stocking, helping customers, etc. Not as high volume as a Lowe's. Niblock is going to destroy Lowe's in his Ahab quest of his White Whale (HD). HD will be eating Lowe's lunch. HD will be flooded with applications. I am so lucky I left Lowe's 3 months ago. I feel horrible for my friends left behind.

DON'T forget about spring hiring which will start in two weeks so guess what they can fire a-- many people as they want and call it 1% because spring hiring will white wash it

Facts are the layoffs are at the ASM level. The department heads get one of the Service Manager positions. The ones not selected sounds like will have a job and same rate of pay for a year. I agree that most likely they will step down to specialists and take a pay cut eventually. If I am not selected I'll probably wait until another spot opens in the area. A year a lot changes.

Lowe's has about 1,840 (google it) stores in the US. If the percentage is accurate then it should be 1-3 people per store depending on your sales volume. We can all speculate on what we hear but today we will know facts.. good luck and god bless all Lowe's employees

Here's a subject near and dear to me. Lowes will be doing a major restructure for it's store staffing model. They say it's only 1% of the total workforce (~3,000) but there is a caveat they don't mention. These are full time permanent jobs with benefits. To backfill these permanent positions the speculation is more part time positions which don't come with benefits. "Love where you Live, Love where you Work"
