Florida store had 2 asm's go. The horrible evil ones who give you dirty looks, Kept her job. If you're not friendly with an asm, no promotion. If you are and lazy, the world is yours. I was offered a manager position at a flooring company, I'm taking it now. If they are cutting the upper end positions, why stay if you can't get promoted? I'm leaving and I can say I've got 6 years in been a dm, but nothing to look foreword to now. How can you feel confident that you'll ever be promoted? I'm gone! Fun while it lasted!

The reason the seasoned guys were let go was because they cost the co. more money than the new ones. More salary, more benefits (bonus, vaca, sick, health insurance - btw the health insurance cost is based on age - thanks Obama). It is all about the bottom line. The more you make the higher the risk you will be canned regardless of how good you do.
My store had 3 ASMs let go today one of which was severely injured 6 months ago by a neglegent employee with power equipment ( bad enough that he will never walk right again). The other just planted roots and bought a house and recently found out that his wife is pregnant. They were both great guys and had been with the company for 10+ years. Why couldn't they have been offered a lower position instead of being fired?? Makes absolutely no sense...
They let 2 ASM's go at the Colonie, NY store. They are really good guys too! They kept this overweight woman named ASM (Lisa) and she doesn't have ANY power equipment licences but the two ASM guys did! Unreal...
I agree even if you get the service manager position what makes you confident you'll ever move up higher?? Plus why would you knowing how risky your job was?
