Year End Performance Review

Looks like it's starting. Received my year end review on Tuesday. Funny after 8 years being here I now a Meets/Does Not Meet in review with no reasons given?

So I call my manager on it or go over his head and open a case with Employee Relations?

Place is in disarray have been looking for another job but nothing yet?

Comments?

Yep, it's kind of like the "Good cop, bad cop" scenario when you contact HR. If you know you are GOING to leave then definitely contact and HR and get your 2 cents worth so that your managers record will get noticed and their behavior flagged.

It sounds like you already have a poor relationship with your manager and that is most likely reflected in your review. Be honest with yourself, do you really deserve a better rating? The fact you want to escalate without even going to your manager first says a lot. Also your manager isn't doing their job if they just gave you a review with no comments regarding your rating or gave you the review without a one on one setting. You said you want to leave so call HR but just know you will be blackballed after that. I'm sure you already are though. Good Luck!

TheThe average memory span of a manager at BofA is 1 week. This deteriorates as the manager becomes more senior - incidentally, that's how one becomes more senior! This is the place where incompetence has found a home. Looking at my reviews, I wonder if this is my manager and who my manager really is?

@LptbPHP-2glt, the evidence and examples that will come will be b---s--- and hard to address since it's your word against theirs! How do you explain a situation when it's all one sided and biased from their perspective? Without something in writing or witnesses you have little chance of being heard or understood!

I am so glad I don't work for this company anymore. Once I complained to HR due to one of my coworkers violation of the code of ethics, what I received was: my coworker was informed about who was the one who complained, other coworkers start reviewing my daily activity (which was absolutely unethical, since we don't have the right to review others activities without a work-related reason), anyway, since there was nothing wrong found, I was bullied for about 2 years, while my manager looked to the other side. I applied for different positions, and my manager always unauthorized because I was needed in my team, even though I was at E/E.

When I was at BAC, my manager told me that they had to make so many people does not meet. The number was 10% at the time. And it was just my year.

Total Bull the way the entire review process is done. They decide in September what you year end review will be.

If you ever get a "does not meet" - here's what you do:

  1. Ask for evidence.

  2. Ask exactly when your manager noticed when you were falling short.

  3. Ask your manager for specific examples. Don't accept generalized statements like "you know you do".

  4. Ask your manager when, where and how they communicated that to you.

  5. Ask your manager what plan of action you and they set to remediate the issue - at the time they noticed the issue.

  6. If not 4 - ask them why it's taken them 6-12 months to tell you...

Put the results in an email. Copy HR, your manager (and your lawyer). If your manager hasn't coached you continuously throughout the year - then even if you get fired.....their a-- is in the fire :)

You really have to be at the bottom of the productivity and other metrics to get a does not meet. I've never seen a person agree that they stink which is part of the problem...a lack of intellectual honesty. Now if truly not at the bottom of the metrics, then definitely talk to HR because the manager needs some coaching. A does not meet should not be a surprise to the employee at year end.

I am in same situation. Went out on approved short term disability returned to work and now received a meets does not meet on review with a summary note that team was left in bad situation since I was out? The real kicker was the blurb of this started earlier prior to my short term leave?

In reading your question I would escalate ad I am planning to do as fly manager says he will review it?? What a joke...

Most anyone getting an exceeds in my department is doing so serious s--- a--, mgmt thrives on that, nothing new there. some of the best the department had had bailed in the past 4 months and gone to other companies with better pay and benefits.

I would escalate to HR what do you have to loose as you are already blackballed. At least get your side on the record.

Unless you are looking to move to the top of the layoff list (which it sounds like you are already being slotted for), HR won't be of any use and it may even accelerate the process.

If no reasons for does not meet then you can fight it with hr.

Don't do it! Your manager will get pissed and will be told by HR to put you on a plan to "Get you right!" If you want the package that's the way to go, otherwise you're screwed!
