Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowe's is the Scientology of retail...

I see that after getting their asses pounded on these sites, that there are a number of "Lowe's is the best thing ever!" posts all over here now. Lowe's is too cheap to pay people to do this, but like Scientology, they have devoted (brainwashed) employees to do if for them...or try to, at least.

You shills aren't fooling anyone.

1) hard work isn't the answer to everything, so shut the f--- up. If hard work was all that was needed, the world would be a better place.

2) If you feel grateful to have a job, you've been defeated. So go hide away in some shack in the hills because you are of no use to those trying to make a difference.

3) Lowe's is everything that is wrong with this country: cheap, abusive, and immoral. They cater to the wealthy elite, who are building a kleptocracy. If you don't know what that means, then look it up and remember it - it's what America is now.

This layoff proves that the corporate humps are running this country, and that we're on a downward trajectory.

As one of the termed ASMs I would like to say I had some of the best DMs, they worked very hard and earned my respect. The sad thing is because I was the one they let go I was unable to participate in the selection of the service managers and I do not think they will get selected because of this. Please when reading and replying to these posts these are people you are referring to, but also this is a huge company with only one goal and that is to make money, mission accomplished.

I love how Lowes can't approach someone who is ripping the store off...and say..."Oops...Pay for that please.

We aren't the freebies sir. We actually do sell this product."

These morons think they are keeping their employees safe...Letting these common criminals walk out with product.... undeterred.

Here's a wake up Lowes.

You are adding more and more of these criminals... coming into your stores every day that you keep up this policy.

Which mathematically means... you are putting more of us risk of being shot by these SSA Wipes.

Which begs to question....Why don't you just open up some stores in Federal Penitentiaries...and see how it works out for you.

It seems Lowes is more interested in bringing in more thieves to their stores...than actual customers.

With the Shoplifting of their own employees wages to hire part timers for a pittance...Maybe they have a lot in common with the shoplifters.

What's the difference. They'll rob their own employees before stopping common thieves from coming into their stores.

You may not see your DM in your department sometimes because the ASM's or store manager had them do some horrible task. DM's were treated like the scum of the earth. They were grunts who had to get yelled at constantly for every little thing being out of place and for worthless part timers who refused to work. Customers are always complaining about the smallest matter. DM was a thankless job and the pay wasn't good for all the abuse that was required. It could have been better but bad store management, bad training of ASM's so all they are is negative and bullies but worst of all is never having enough people to help. This new model is just going to make things worse. The people making these decisions have no clue what it is like working in the stores.

To the dirt bag that called the DM's leeches. You are a fool. In my experience the DM's were the employees who got things done and knew their product. If there was a store/stores that fits your description that falls on upper managements lack of accountability and training. In the region I am from that was NOT the case!

Do you know how little DMs actually do? Don't pedestal yourselves. A vast majority of DMs are worthless, which is why they are culling them. Don't kid yourself with this rhetoric. The company is saving 135 million dollars by getting rid of the leeches.

Was a Lowes employee for 14 years . I count my lucky stars I was recruited away. Company has just gone completely down hill across the board in my time with Lowes. Everything from customer service to employee compensation and treatment to pricing. I am not a fan of unions at all. But this company needs to have one. Engaged employees are treated horriable and train part time employee who replace them on a whim and for half the price . Customer service suffers as does sales. I had bought in to the retire rich only to watch mgt fire employees as they approached 20 years . Very sad

Everyone is right EXCEPT the idiot who said "another terminee with a chip on his/her shoulder". Get a clue. Lowes is making a dumb move. Sure there are people who are dead weight....what company doesn't have these. However, the department manager job is thankless and they do so much of the physical grunt work in our store, get abused constantly and have to try to appease the nasty customers. Part timers only care about making sure they get their 15 minute breaks in their 4 hour stint. Many of the full-timers don't even take breaks. You have no idea how brutal customers can be and how nasty employees are treated at Lowes so this is just another kick in the teeth. And if Lowes had an ounce of intelligence in their upper management, they would be looking at the prices and reducing install fees, etc. Compare Home Depot vs Lowes online and you will see that the prices are lower at Home Depot. Install fees are less than half in many cases. That is the real reason Lowes is not doing well....it isn't the employees. Cutting when there are already too few staff members will only make customers less happy. Read the post from the Chicago trial in 2015. They STILL have not staffed up with part timers. It is all greed and stupidity.

Condoning a company that layed off thousands of its employees as well as eliminating all department manager positions (who are the most knowledgeable & hardworking individuals in their areas) is deplorable. Replacing department managers with part timers is a joke. Most (not all) part time employees simply do not care. There is no way these part timers will create more face time for the customer. This restructuring is so far beyond stupid that it is actually just insane. This restructure will not benefit the customer just the shareholders. It will not work. Lowes is a sinking ship.
