Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Money walking out the door

At my store in Utah we have one lp associate. We have slot of shoplifting and they know they can get away with it. If all other Lowe's have the same non existent security I'm sure this company loses a fortune. I've never seen a company that basically invites theft. I see it constantly and yet they'll lay off people who gave decades of their lives to this company. Makes absolutely no sense.

I have. I work in retail but for a drug store chain over night in the ghetto. Well, OK it's ghetto by night. Right along with the druggies, drunks, and cranks. You could guess what chain probably by my name. But I assure you, Lowes while s---s isn't the only company that screws it's hardworking people. Meanwhile part timers and the thieves get away with murder. Literally. If your not in, your not in. If you get my drift and I assure you I am not in. I am not one of these call off every other day, hang in the office with boss type of people whatsoever. I bust my behind because my company is too cheap to even hire floor care. Let alone make their part timers actually do anything. Amazingly some make more then me. Management makes more, and does less. It's really insulting and certainly I can relate to everyone's complaints here for sure.

They just shoplifted from their own employees...Hiring part timers and stealing DM's and ASM's paychecks...for low paid part timers in the end.

They are better shoplifters than the thieves coming into the stores.

Why fight the trend.

Nimrod from K-mart...got his 8 million in rewards.

Corporate Greed.

It will bring this company to its knees...While needle dee ick...collects his golden parachute cash.

Lowe's loss prevention is a joke. It's more about catching associates stealing than stopping external theft. A crew of contractors literally went around the south for years stealing thousands of dollars worth of tools from stores and lowes was actually hiring them to come in after closing. Crazy part is several stores caught the crew staging items to be stolen, so Lowe's was at least aware that they were potentially connectrd to the shrink but for some reason kept contracting them to do work in the stores. Brilliant

To the person from the NY'S Hudson Valley store.........you hit it right On! Funny we have the exact same issues in the Plymouth Minnesota store. I can only believe these are common problems in all their stores, not to mention the 2 female ASM'S in our store treat people like crappie and after constant complaints by many people it never changes. This company is the worst I have ever worked for in my 40 years in the work force!

The post about not enough people and the abundance of theft is absolutely true. Also, Lowes takes returns of everything with no questions asked. I have seen ASM's and Store Managers give hundreds of dollars of discount or good to people just because they complained about something stupid like the refrigerator light isn't bright enough. So much waste that is not employee related. Part timers will just quit when they are treated like crap but the full timers keep coming in each day.

Lowe's doesn't know the key to success. You hire people that want to work, learn, and grow with the company. You hire part-time associates. The ones with the right qualfications you offer full-time.

You cross train in two or three departments. When a customer is fortunate enough to find a associate in the skelton crew they run. The associate has no knowledge to assist customers.

Just left a position at a Lowe's in NY's Hudson Valley. People quit and never get replaced. 2 employees (sometimes just 1) scheduled for each dept, one opener one closer. Nobody to cover your lunches or breaks except your overworked coworker in the dept next door. Not uncommon to be the only person at times in 3-4 depts. Store was filthy, bathrooms go uncleaned for days. Break room full of mousetraps and overflowing garbage cans. Rampant theft with an LP dept that was obsessed with everything but watching the expensive tools walking out the door. Sullen management moping around. Don't bother to ask them for help because they never will. No matter how hard we worked it was never good enough for our store manager. This place slowly became, hands down, the worst job I had ever had.
