Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

I'm opting for a fresh start

All Lowe's DMs should take this restructure as an opportunity to go to a better job & company.

The Tuesday meeting was an orchestrated joke & insult. You get to interview for one of the new service manager roles (aka the previously known ASM job) for much more responsibility & headache, for only 3-5% hourly wage increae. (You know ASMs are salaried jobs starting at $60k per year.)

No,

thanks. I opted out and will use the next 12 months to find a better job, better working conditions, and better pay! (You idiots can fight for one the over-worked, under-paid service manager jobs -- and deal with the deteriorating conditions at Lowe's.)

Take pride in yourselves and leave this place!

Lowe's wants to change but the problem is people who have been with the company 10+ years know how good it was and what it felt like to matter. Negative happens when you treat your employees like pieces of sh-- over and over. I have seen 10% above cost gone. I have seen Commissions gone. I have seen credit card bonuses gone. Monthly department bonuses. Xmas bonus. Payout for unused floating holiday gone. vacation terms increased so making it harder to get 4 weeks.. People like us see the company for what it really is. Now they say screw you. Leave so we can find mindless guppies that will do your job for less.

Sadly the most qualified or better employees are often not kept or promoted. It is the favorites that often are worthless who are coddled and pushed up the ladder. It is like that in many stores, if not all. I know of two stores locally where the ASM's who were kept are very lazy and very nasty. Many of the good department managers are being let go also because they do not mesh with the store manager's negative, bullying tactics or they don't s--- up. There is a negative mentality that has been fostered over the past ten years and it is further destroying Lowes.

ASM's salaries do not start at 60K. Many ASM's are below 40k at my store!

Install Manager will be gone as soon as your AREA develops a CPO. Once it is you can say good bye. It won't be a layoff probably but you'll have to find another position and well most likely pay less..

I'am an ASM that got layoff this Tuesday. .I worked for Lowe's for 5 yrs this was unexpected and very unprofessional how they handle this situation. All that talk about Values and EOS taking care of our employees was bull sh*t..From district manager and SM having all those fake smiles when they don't care about no one but themselves and their favorites employees. .Well hopefully the bubbly and cheerful employees will s--- there way up to get all those positions like always..Lowe's needs experience, honest and dependable employees that will take care of customers and employees. .

Why can't you people consolidate all your ramblings into one thread instead of making a hundred threads everyday

What I have noticed using the customer survey scores is a way of proving part timers don't work. Every question that required a knowledgeable employee we are not doing well. The initial greeting and taking to product we are. It goes in line with part timers being hired.

I don't work for Lowes but I know how the store has gone down from a customer perspective. Part time employees never know anything. Lowes would save a lot of money getting rid of Niblock who has run this company into the ground just like he did to Kmart.
