Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

State of U.K. Theatre

Today's news has left me and at others in shock. To promote this type of person to arch leader is just bad logic. Not surprised business is so bad. Anyone got inside track?

Agreed. Lots of cryptic messages on this thread. One bit of news is cisco UK is closing its Swindon site and canning all engineers from that site in a mini LR. Done and dusted in two weeks. Another acquisition bites the dust.

Can you please engage a brain cell before pecking rubbish on a keyboard? This UK thread has to be the most unclear and obfuscated thread on this whole site.

After reading all this I will have to look my options outside uk org. Leadership is giving no guidance on anything. Just got a 1to1 from my manager for tomorrow morning with subject as "meeting". Looks like I'm gone. Am in U.K. Sales.

Was the last UK LR a dodgy deal between the arch director and CEO for an early retirement as rumours are spreading. Anyone know?

No PowerPoint anymore. Just loads of numbers on a whiteboard which are unreadable to confuse even more. Yipee brighton in march. No concept of vison or leadership just listening to the witches of east wick as a ego massage.

Brighton! Woohoo!! As if we don't have anything better to do then go to that dump and pretend to be engaged and having fun. I'm cringing just thinking about the leadership trying to get us behind them and motivated. Although they will probably just hide behind numbers on a PowerPoint as normal and none of us will be any clearer on their vision or if they even have one.

Actually, does anyone know the vision for the UK and or their direct leader? Because that is what leadership is, a vision you get others to buy in to and strive for, not looking at spreadsheets all day, asking ignorant questions about deals and then thinking you had an impact.

Any updates how UK is doing? LR had big impact and reading all the posts about leadership changes and missteps must means that things are screwed and nepotism is high but would be good to hear from current employees.

Good point, maybe she's been put there with the intention it's a deadman walking position? AC was quick to take retirement as soon as the new uk CEO took over. Maybe he got insight into the view of the PSS model. One thing is for sure though, regardless of the PSS strategy at a high level, I would be looking hard for a new job quickly as if I were a PSS, because as soon as the opportunity comes up SE will sacrifice that team without a thought if it benefits her politically. I hear insight are recruiting, which would be a good fit for most of them given the calibre.

Don't worry we r going to lovely Brighton for a piss up so u can drown your sorrows. Seems like the only way the uk leadership know how to motivate. Leadership is about people not a spreadsheet fcukwrs.

Truth... I think I know exactly who is guiding him and he's the most political man in Cisco. He wanted that job but knew he wouldn't get it this time. Now he's making friends above Scut and around him. He has a whole team of people surrounding him who he's lifted up the ranks as he's moved around and will now support him when the time is right. I give it 2 years.

The previous leader was as genuine as they come and someone people felt they could trust and loyal to. When the new guy was announced I must admit I had never even heard of him, then he hid for a good few months, so I still know nothing about him. What I can feel however is the pressure he is enforcing on his reports as it's coming straight down the line. The culture it's created is not one I'm used to at Cisco or one I want to spend the majority of my life in. Hence why I'm looking outside now, first time in 18 years and hoping I might get lucky with a friendly push out the door, if these rumours about H2 layoffs are true.

Not sure who is advising the new leader but they are clearly looking to fcuk him up by pushing such crappy hires. Got to be a conspiracy in there. At least we have Brighton to look forward to!!!!!!!!! Save the bill and hire some good leaders.

Remember you're only as good as the weakest team member around you...

By induction everyone at Cisco would be as bad as it's worst employee which is possibly slightly less than true.

I've never worked in an organization where you didn't have to learn how to work around the disastrous. Just like some companies increase their earnings by selling less product at a loss, you learn how to distract those causing real damage by teaching them how to become deadwood by surfing for porn or the like. Doing this successfully at Cisco requires Olympic level skills and with the ADHD culture they won't stay beached for long so you'll have to keep repeating the process, but it can and has been done.

Ultimately this demonstrates the leadership qualities of the new UK&I Leader and his poor judgement in character. I'm sure there are a few people just beneath him rubbing their hands, building their support teams and getting chummy with the EMEA SVP, to take his role when his Leadeship Team starts to let him down. Remember you're only as good as the weakest team member around you and he's not setting himself up for success. No one expected the Spanish Inquisition.

I've worked for this new arch leader. What a self centred person. It's al about her and her stooges. Knows how to talk excel numbers and confuse people. No respect for colleagues or teams. Simply ticks boxes. Am all for diversity as a gal myself but come on, this is killing the business U.K. Board.

I'm sure though the reason she got it is because of the must promote women culture Cisco now has and the slim pickings to choose from.

Clearly some positive discrimination in play there.

Praying brother, keep praying that the witches have mercy.

Biatch.

Wow. I'm glad I don't know what your mommies did to you. Everyone above TL or first level manager level I worked with at Cisco were guys and I wouldn't trust any one of them to architect a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I'd end up with three discrete piles of drywall, motor oil and whatever paste they didn't finish eating and it would be delivered years late (if you've seen their code you know they can't assemble anything either.) If she holds the title Director she sounds like an ideal candidate. The culture of Chambers marches on.

I've worked for her before and thought she was OK. Much better then some of the other leaders in the U.K. She looks for results and doesn't care if you're a nice guy, which is the way it should be. I must admit she has little knowledge and whenever she talks about something it's all very hypocritical. I remember seeing her pitch IOT to a customer and it was embarrassingly cringy. I'm sure though the reason she got it is because of the must promote women culture Cisco now has and the slim pickings to choose from. But if CSR is more important to Cisco then results, then so be it.

I don't think I can bare another quarter end at this place. Time to start responding to the 10+ approaches I'm getting a week...... the recruiters can smell blood at Cisco!

As for the new Director of Architectures, I thought it was a joke when I first heard it. Clearly some positive discrimination in play there. Mercy to anyone reporting in to her, I suggest you invest in a stab vest.

Nothing on cec so must be about the new architectures leader. Some woman who ran enterprise networks got the inside track to lead whole team or what left of it. Very fishy indeed . Let hunger games begin in that team.
