Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Layoffs

So when do we see some of the district managers, and regional managers laid off? Eddie, quit taking all of the help out of the stores, and start laying off some of the ones that make the big bucks. What kind of customer service could your members possibly get with 3-4 full time associates in a store? You have totally destroyed 2 American icons.

@uli - "This company has a top-heavy culture." Very true, however, that is the way it has been for a very long time. When Sears was still headquartered at the Sears Tower a fellow associate would often comment, "This company is so top-heavy that it's a surprise that the Tower hasn't tipped over."

If they post something about not laying off or not closing stores that opens them up to a lawsuit. They will always talk about "transformation" and closing unprofitable stores. What do you want them to say?

Wouldn't it be nice if Braithwaite did something useful & posted something on pebble that would ease fears of layoffs or lift morale even just a little, that's his job no? Instead he will stick to the usual pointless, useless, brown nosing bull.

This company has a top-heavy culture. There are so many policies and procedures too keep track of that, in a way, Sears needs so many chiefs at the cost of the Indians.

I'm not saying it's right...all that upper management seems to do is to find ways to make the stores run LESS smoothly and the lives of the associates miserable, because there are so many "leaders" to answer to. Most have never been in the trenches and it shows. The district, regional and corporate levels are all about instilling a micromanaging, inefficient dictatorship.

It's all set up that way and it won't change. It is one of the many reasons why Sears is dying.

If you have a good rapport with your store manager or other members of management in the store (i.e., ones that aren't drinking the koolaid), just ask them. Many will be happy to fill you in on how the structure of power in this company is a self-inflicted injury.

It's not about customer service. They could not care less about that anymore. All they are trying to do at this point is stay afloat until the bankruptcy can be filed.
