Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Pilot program

The dept manager position were also eliminated from our store .11 of us had to apply for the 5 new service manger positions. They laid off 1 asm. Its b---s--- but what can you do. The store manger interviewed everybody and honestly of he dont like u or u aint on the squad then u aint gettibg a position. But hey some dept mangers at the store are useless any ways. Some are sleeping with other employees and some call in Every day. It is what it is though.

One of the "new" temp ft employees here , and I bet in 6 months they will roll out the team leader position again. The team leader position will replace the old dept. manager tasks with a lot less pay. What lowes has done for the most part in most stores from what I am gathering , is they have cut tenured employees and saving on vacation time, higher wages, people that have seen this before. In most cases I beleive the decision on who stays or who goes was based on 3 things...

*How long have you been with lowes (are you making more than new asm's that are coming in)

*Your potential of becoming an asm (the older you are the less likely you will because you know better)

*Are you a YES man and will do what ever is asked with out question ( or do you question and lead)

When SM was asked what criteria was used to select for the new service manager position I was told it was not based on results or performance but the potential the canidate had.

Well that makes sence since my depts. have exceeded budget for the last 10 years, I have trained 14 csa's who I prompted to go for ft support and specialist positions and they have succeeded very well, I worked on the voice team till it became a party planning club under new SM. I was also one of the strongest trainers in the store. So now I understand why I was not selected🤔

I'm sorry for your loss in working for Lowes. I'm also trying to forgive the fact that the heroes project has stopped and my family must pay the price. Thank you for your time.

I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you that lost there positions today. This s---s they did this to you guys. I think what is next is changing full-time position to part time. I enjoy working here cause of the few employees I work with. Disappointed in upper management. They are making a huge mistake with who they picked. It's gonna be mass chaos come springtime. Good luck with customer service.

23 years here, did whatever was told to do, never complained, never layed out, but told I didn't make the cut, said computer made decision, and the people I trained got the jobs, can we do legal action?

23 years here. Didn't get it either. Feel like they want to cut older employees pay back.

my husband has been a faithful DM at Lowes for the past 15 years running several departments. Found out today that he isn't one of the chosen five for the new position. Everyone is shocked. I'm wondering if it's because he's 59 years old. Can anyone relate?

It is about who you are in with and not your merit.. I have been with the company over 11 years and I see management in my store divided. There are some hungry ones for change and then there are the lazy ones including the SM who want to keep the people who will protect him. So a guy who doesn't want to be exposed for his inability to run the store will decide the fate of 13 people putting the worst people in those positions to save his butt. I will not be selected even though half of them want me. I was told by some if certain people get one of the positions to go above the store to area HR and complain about favoritism. Was my forewarning on the results that will be announced today..

Hi,

I surely enjoyed reading every word of your post..I've worked for Lowe's coming up on 11 year's, and I've never seen it like this before. At my store..the final decision's are supposed to be made today ( Friday 1/27 ) I know in my heart that politics will PROBABLY be a factor in the process..which of course is wrong !!

Of course we all know it seemingly happens at MOST business's. I'll surely be remembering all of those affected in prayer.
