CCIE is Cisco's way of building mindshare and recruiting folks to adopt its technology. But Cisco's direction and vision is questionable.

AWS cert is the way to go, IMHO.

Getting your CCIE is probably worth it because it still carries a lot of prestige and it will get your foot in the door.

Is it "really" worth anything -no. At least as far as the Data Center CCIE is concerned - every person who passes that lab knows exactly what is on the lab in advance. There is so much configuration to be input in such a short amount of time, people have to spend months banging the configurations in and practicing doing it fast. In addition there are stupid "gotcha" traps that you need to know about in advance.

Due to Cisco's greed the lab is now graded by a script instead of by hand. This reduces the amount of features that can be rotated in and out of the lab because of the expense and difficulty of writing scripts to grade the results.

It is simply a money maker for Cisco

In case someone thinks I am simply bitter - I have had my CCIE in R and S for nearly 20 years and earned it when the lab was a two day test, was hand graded and involved troubleshooting.

You want to earn your real networking chops? Work in the TAC for four years and rotate to a couple of different teams. You will be a god compared to someone who simply passes the lab

It is not prestigious as once was however you will find lots of jobs asking for ccie. There are quite a bit of paper ccies passed the lab with help of dumps . To me it is just a way to get your foot in the door nothing more. Of course the ccie cap is nice. I have multiple ccies and decided not to go that routes and join partners / Cisco customers but take up network automation instead and join a start up

I am not sure. The real question... Is there a certification in the networking industry that is highly competing with the CCIE?
