Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

WFH - the screws are being put to the non-compliant. How many still out there being forced to drive long distances or force HR for an answer?

Interested to find out how many are still out there forced to drive over 50 miles each way or admit to HR they are not willing and wait for a decision. I have not been told what the decision will be yet. I am in the waiting state. It could be fired, it could be severance, or an exception. I am curious how many others are out there. If you have an answer, what is it. I really don't like being forced to leave a company without given a severance. This seems illegal. They are basically forcing me to find another job and leave or risk being fired. All the other long distance workers I know have already left the company and resigned or were accepted on the VRIF. I was told to 'hold out no hope' with the situation by my HR person.

Sure seems like they are trying to wait us out. See if they can wait long enough that we will quit and they won't have to deal with us. Scare us enough that we find other jobs and leave. I have been getting the 'wink wink' 'hint' hint' type comments that I should expect the worst. At the same time they are saying they are doing everything they can to get me an exception. It is quite ridicules.

I see this thread has jumped to another post.

I guess people are being held accountable for not coming to an office or cube. No site mentioned.

Maybe it's time time shed light on this subject via the press. NBC in my city has a segment shedding light on injusteses. Honeywell just announced a huge opening here that hit lots of press, maybe they need an update?

I have and no, nothing at all . Now it's a delicate balance between leaving and stop all the driving or wait for the MIP then leave. I too was told the end of Janyary and here we sit .... in our car and traffic.

Has anyone spoken to HR recently about when decisions will or supposedto be made? Severance package? I did today and got the typical runaround. Seems like they know but won't say. End of month maybe? Just like 1/31?

Same boat here take it and run.

They said it was Jan31 however they missed the date due to them reviewing the policy. They were supposed to have an answer two weeks show however they missed that date as well. So when ever they get the paperwork completed and reviewed by legal.

My question is, will you get severance? If so, it's not that bad then. If they'd offer they to us driving more than 50 miles as I do, I'd take it and run.

I had to provide my intent to HR in writing early last week whether I would report to the nearest Hon site over 150 miles away and declined the offer due to unreasonableness. Been Formal Telecommuting Employee over 10 years. HR agreed it is but reiterated no full time WFH is permitted. End of employment is looming according to HR. Does anyone know HR's target date for separation? They will not say.

the 50 mile limit was removed from honeywell documents last year and no longer applies to anyone, so a person in hr told me anyway - guess they knew this was coming

fmao: It might not be that cut and dried but here's a discussion that would certainly apply to someone having to drive an outlandish distance now, where before that they telecommuted:

http://www.edd.ca.gov/UIBDG/Voluntary_Quit_VQ_150.htm

Too burdensome a commute means it wasn't a voluntary quit.

I seem to recall that if your work situation changes to where you now have to commute more than 50 miles then you are not legally required to do so. Your refusal won't be considered a resignation so you can collect unemployment. Don't know if that is an AZ statute or universal. Hey HR, put that in your pipe and smoke it. Do some googling or consult with a lawyer but I think I am correct on this matter.

Guess they figured out another way to save money. If they fire them March 1st, no MIP given out. But if they pay severance, who cares . The other question would be, are they paying last year severance or did they change to the rumored 13 wks for long term employees?

Again I'm WFH with no exception and not been told anything. I'm in limbo. I've not been told to report and I'm not going to.

I think they should give severance. I was told they would have s decision by Friday week and I'm still waiting.

If people are starting to get some answers from HR, we need details. There are WFH people watching this thread. Please try to find out if there was any offer of severance.

HR has started to have discussions with people who are not driving in. If their reason wasn't accepted they are being told their last day will be in March. That was from some who was told recently to either change their mind or you're fired Trump style. No idea if it is with severance or a firing for cause which means no unemployment either

Nope not here. Didn't get an exemption and I'm still WFH and will continue to do so.

I'm hearing something is in the works for people driving more than 50 miles to get to a site. It was supposed to have been rolled out by now but like anything else hon tried to do, they can't seem to decide and roll it out.

I'm hearing severance option to relocation so if you can hang on long enough, it may be worth the wait.

At my facility the word is full time WFH decisions were made by end of January and part time WFH decisions will follow in February.

It's too bad all you people have to drive so far, rent another home closet , rent your home or sell it.

My manager told me to sit tight and let's see what they decide. Why can't all mgrs. be on the same page and just tell us that? So many mgrs. treat you like kids and that the only thing that matters is thier miserable life.

Too bad,

Working from home 20+ years. 250+ miles from site with any co-workers; daily team members are global. I mostly provide customer support to global customers. 3rd party has arranged for me to report to completely unrelated site 180 miles from my home. I will try renting my home and move, hopefully temporarily, until early retirement, or until the WFH police stop trying to enforce a policy that makes no sense.

Reviewing program and if severance would be appropriate in some cases but dragging thier feet. Why wouldn't they? People impacted would drive for hours per week or leave. Longer this takes, fewer cases to review.

All the outstanding WFH are supposed to resolved by 1/31? Or just that single case?

Still WFH. No word from HR. This is supposed to be resolved by 1/31 due to high visibility. With some luck I'll be out of the company soon.

No screws applied here. I'm working from home going on 1 year & 5 months. Was told in early January I'd be told where to report, still nothing and I'm not asking.

I have a full time long distance contract. I have been long distance full time teleworking with this contract for 10 years. I was refused VRIP because of too high of performance. This is not a performance issue as a full time teleworker. Yes, my contract has a clause that says it can be changed by Honeywell at any time. I do not believe that being fired with no severance is appropriate. What type of lawyer should be contacted?

Good idea if band 4 as you get 50% of what used to be a good bonus but something's better than nothing, we deserve what ever they give us. I'm doing the same. Retire in march/ april

Actually it did say work from home office however, where they get us us, the contract states they can revoke at any time and it's renewable yearly.

Just because we moved far away and they agreed, they should offer severance unless while WFH performance suffered. It's the right thing to do.

Does your contract say you can work from home 5 days a week? If not, then why should you get severance? HON will eventually assign you a seat, if you don't turn up you'll be fired with no severance.

It's unfortunate, but unless you agreed that you could work from home permanently, then it really isn't HONs fault how far your journey is. You'll apply for a new job and in most cases, you'll be expected to turn up at their offices as well.

I've been hit with the policy, it's cost me money, but I need a job, that's life.

I set up an office/cube and have never gone back, hoping for a pip followed by a severance and shown the door.

I can take early retirement 60 yo but I want my severance.

My distance is 65 miles

I too am still WFH waiting in a decision. My distance is more than 70 miles each way.

I was told a severance may be in the works and should have heard this past week but nothing from HR as of Friday night.

Since I have no cube to go too I'm not asking for an answer. I'm waiting and have spoken to a labor law expert and may have a case but waiting.

Let's stay in touch and up to date here.
