Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Once JF is gone leaves MH wide open reign. I expect y-y decline of greater than 5% on HW. April earnings call.

Actually the on-prem YoY HW decline is 10 already. It's been that way for a while.

Oracle HR at its best, they can't deny the truth because that is so obvious, so instead they spam threads with nonsense like this. Sad! Nothing to get worked about, just some poor hr slave doing their job

"So much R&D that's wasted on high paid engineers basically make up problems to stay employed."

LOL. Totally agree. But it's funny that some of these high paid engineers are moving to the another OS group. They will just repeat the same mistakes there.

MH doesn't know how to save Systems. Nobody knows and nobody can. I believe they will kill sparc and just keep some x86/Linux around. Solaris is already in maintenance mode.

Even the DB group at risk. Amazon's enterprise-class database, Aurora, starts to get popular because it's 10x cheaper than Oracle DB.

There is no April earnings call. Quarter just ended, call is probably around mid March.

Get real Oracle will give no such statement. They like to keep All the sheep in the dark until time for slaughter. Cruel company. No morals and no transperancy.

Would behave oracle to set and announce a clear strategy, if they're getting out of hardware say to and art a timeline, this dicking around in the dark, trying to hide what they're doing is amateurish . And yes totally agree on the lawsuit!

@mdm

You have the right attitude to survive any cuts. Good luck if you are impacted.

No blame to JF I just don't see he was the right person to make the needed changes for current market reality. Takes a bit of an a-- hole like MH. He's the right man for the job. As hard as it is to see many lose jobs. Everyone it's time to change career. Tech future for HW is dim. Most especially for any over 40 years old. I speak from experience. Top of my career and highest performer. Business changes we all had to go find new jobs and career in many cases.

Why we blaming JF? Sparc servers are too enxpensive, Solaris is closed sourced. Linux is open and free. There is no reason Oracle should keep thousands of Sparc/Solaris engineers, maybe a few hundreds to support existing customers. Even with engineered systems (not counting SSC), just a bunch of x86 servers, Cisco switch and a few IB switches....it does not take a lot of engineers for support/developement. The truth hurts and I have no problem if Oracle lets me go. Why blame Oracle? We all should be thankful....the writing is on the wall.

MH knows how to run hw. He knows how much waste is currently built in with so many sites and redundant skills. So much R&D that's wasted on high paid engineers basically make up problems to stay employed. MH needs to clean up HW fast. Get the leaders that want to keep it inefficient out! As an investor that's why we love MH. Get the job done Mark. Find the efficiency's or get a growth product.
