Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Gatesheed

Lads, it ldefiantly looks like the place is too close , the management have been stringing us along , hinting the facility might not be closing after all. This is so we get all the orders out . I have a relation who over heard a conversation about Gateshead between a manager and a supervisor who were unware that my relation knew them and who they were . Apparently they confirmed it was too close and what they were up too and that they had already secured new positions else where on the valley with other companies and were just waiting for the pay off???.

For the record, the UK 45 day consultation period for closure at Gateshead has seen two delays of 30 then 60 days due to at least two big orders coming in and people there believe more big orders are to come.

Gateshead I believe is going to survive the current downturn and will stil be here in months and years to come.

Does anybody actually think they are going to be kept on in that place including managers, NOV want information on equipment and systems and once they have it everybody will be gone
