Perhaps one might be more concerned about Chevron getting IP address?
What I meant with the term of "confusing site admins" was protecting yourself from being identified by your IP address. Keep confusing the bastards by not allowing them to block your ever changing IP. They can still delete your "offending" post, but they can't possibly police every one of the posts. Some do slide through and stay there.
2ynu, I use VPN too (better safe than sorry), but I don't see how that helps in terms of confusing site admins. If a post is in violation of this site's rules, it's gonna get deleted no matter from which IP it was posted. I've been on this site for 2 years, and none of my messages got censored. Things are simple - don't name names and don't call others names, and you'll be fine.
Predictable response. My guess is San Ramon has put the operator of this message board on notice more than once. The analysts meeting this month will be interesting. I think, based on recent communications to employees, that San Ramon is more than a little concerned about the outcome of this meeting and how that is spun in the days that follow. Hopefully it goes well enough to continue building a case for increasing the dividend.
@2tbm, using VPN when visiting this site is wise if you are still employed, but if you are not employed at Chevron anymore, you may still consider using a VPN proxy. I know of several ex Chevronites whose IP address were blocked at first from posting, then by not being able to access the site anymore. I advise everyone to use a VPN connection and change the proxy server each time. That will keep the IT censoring bastards confused.
Using a VPN is wise if you are still employed. If not, then who cares? The Chevron message board on this site has got to be the most active and most critical of the company of all the oil industry message boards. Anyone who has actually worked here will know why.
I found this website went down for nearly one day on Wednesday of this week. It must have been taken down for general maintenance or a major overhaul. That's why initiating a VPN connection before visiting this site may be more important now than ever.
Anyone else finding certain service providers have started restricting accwss to this message board?
OP, I'm curious to know what Chevron apps in particular would work on a "personal" mobile device. I know of a few Chevron apps, but understand they would only work on "company-issued" mobile devices. In any event, using a VPN connection should remedy any fears you may have about Chevron IT tracing your IP Address. Download a VPN application to your mobile device and initiate a proxy session before visiting this message board. Voila.
