Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

Stage a walkout

Let's get a total walkout staged until they quit this BS. They'll be on their knees in 3 days - especially if POS system goes down. They only thing they are good at is eroding trust and morale. Can't wait to see the AES results later this year.

A walkout will just get you fired.

And nobody will win a class action lawsuit against Walmart. Even Erin Brockovich ain't that good.

It would help to ask your senator if he is taking any steps with his collegeues in congress to limit the number of H1B's and put a salary cap of $130000 for their approval .. The rich and the powerful wants to depress wages and the only way they can achieve this goal is by bringing in more cheap labor and get rid of the locals ..

Nothing like a good old Class Action Law Suite to whip this stuff in to shape. Organize and have your cases heard in Court. There are a lot of Class Action Law Firms that would jump at the chance to get a majority of those let go who feel as if it was not done fair and consistent.

The reason we are where we are is due to MGMT practices. I have been on teams where 2 or 3 people had constant attendance problems but there was never any consequences. So other team members get complacent. There is no discipline and no accountability. The absence of these breeds complacency. In my opinion WM created this mess. I have been on high performing teams and on low performing teams. The difference has always been management.

Stage, a walk out. I agree. Stand up to the big retail giant and say enough is enough. The buck stops here.

I can tell you the reason some are getting laid off Because they stood up! Managers are asked to lie on elav. Sorry but that is the truth. And this manager couldn't sleep at night knowing that they are putting people on Needs Deb or pig when they don't deserve to be. So, when this manager stood and said no more, guess what happened. You guessed it. It would take a walk out at this point. But I also know that IT will continue the layoffs.

This is not the fault of NJ or CA .. this is the fault of people becoming complacent and expecting to have a job for life..

Do you actually think that by not shopping at Walmart you will change anything? I have spoken to people who couldn't even tell me how many people were in their teams and what anyone was working on.. we got to this place by hiring incompetent people and by not firing empire builders

AES is a joke - Just becomes a big to do list that the immediate managers are suppost to magically do without any actual power to do anything. Open door, sundown rule, servant leadership, all of the old core Walmart culture is on life support in DGTC. Marc and GeC doesn't care about any of that and the current DGTC 'leaders' are just trying to not rock the boat and lose there positions. They are bring the California Tech culture into Bentonville. In a few more years DGTC will end up just being a basic operations center for the retail stores and all the development and tech work will be done in CA, NJ, and India

I don't think Mr Sam would turn over in his grave. He just doesn't have much muscle mass remaining down there.

Or find another company. They forget the ones left standing are watching every move and they have choices too. I've seen this 'holier than thou you should be thankful you have a job' mentality before and they won't care until all the top talent left walks out the door too. Retention and bench strength are everything to a company this size.

The Company was built on Servant Leadership because Servant Leaders above all hold themselves accountable first.

My wife and I were both displaced one day apart as were many of the people we have worked with over the years.

The thing that we noticed in the last several Layoffs is that the Pyramid ( Hierarchical Leadership ) or the positions from CEO to EVP to SVP to VP even Sr. Director Level saw very little impact. The people in charge getting paid the most to do what they are supposedly accountable for passed their accountability down. Shameful. Servant Leadership is dead and the company unfortunately will follow suit.

If we are having so many profit issues they need to make some serious cuts in the Top 5 layers of the Pyramid. That will get them to the dollar amount they budgeted to cut a lot sooner. And we were always told in stores that Sales were a cure all for any problem. When you lost us as associates you lost us as Customers as well as many of our family members across the Country. We figure that with what ever they saved from letting us go they lost customer loyalty from roughly 21 households including ours. We all signed up for Amazon Prime, sold our Stock and haven't shopped at Walmart since. A walkout will only make you a target and hurt store associates. If you really want to make a statement stop shopping at Walmart.

Mr Sam would turn over in his grave. He drove miles just to make sure his associates had no problems. The vision for his Walmart family is far from what we see happening. Hard working people losing their jobs and people hired to throw others under the bus. Ok, bus throwers, Walmart will get you too. After they use you to hurt others they will sure turn on you. Mr. Walton's family made the world's worst mistake when they allowed these self pocket gain stock holders to buy more stock than they own. He had a vision to help people rather than destroy the security of families. As a community member I have been told how Walmart is replacing American workers with people who probably is illegal to work in America. The ditch they are digging just maybe the one the company falls in. I remember working in a Walmart store and this elderly lady walked up to me and said something astonishing, she said Walmart is coming down, if you dont ever see me again, remember Walmart is coming down. I looked for the old lady and could find her no where. It was as though she was an angel that just vanished. Pray workers that God deal with these heartless ditch digging HR, managers and vps, their day is coming, sooner than they think. They are only pawn men and women. They have family members as well and will need the mercy of others. Woe be unto them. Workers have faith in God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above anything you could ask or think. Love thy neighbor as thyself. Do good to them and not set traps for them for profit.

I am going to come right out and say that the reason for the mass layoffs is the fault of management. Until we can get managers that are more interested in developing their people, than getting back-slapped by their peirs this will continue to happen. Anyone ever heard of servant leadership, oh I forgot, that was one of Sam's Leadership principles. There is no discipline and no accountability in DGTC.
