What is VLSS?
VLSS is probably gone. Most organizations realize they are BS positions that regular upper management can make the same decisions and just use interns to do the legwork and research. It's only hung around as long as it has because a lot of people were put into it that were highly thought of because of friends in high places. They've been using the last couple years to filter them into other roles so they won't be affected.
VLSS people nominated into the program aren't being hit but people who joined it as a regular job apparently will be.
From what I heard the people nominated into the program are viewed as investments because of the amount of money spent on them, but the regular career VLSS'ers may be receiving parting gifts.

Probably not because the more useless you are the more valued you are, so vlss will probably all get raises
