Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Last Day At Sears

Tomorrow is my last day at Sears. It has been my home away from home for the last 18 years. My store was closed down on March 26th. We stayed longer to get the place ready for the owners. I am excited to start something new in life. I will take my severance and pension, and 401(k) and be done with Sears. I am glad we closed down, I was just getting tired of all the things we had to do, credit apps, sywr, emails, care plans, selling bad jewelry. I have had enough, hopefully I will not get back into retail. God bless to all Sears and Kmart Associates. Take Care.

'God bless' and 'godspeed'. Yeah, bring God into this. Like that's going to do any good. Sorry, but every time I see someone write something with God in it. I cringe and shake my head.

Listen good luck to you. Hopefully, everything works out. However, newsflash, God doesn't have a plan for you or care about whether you worked for Sears or not.

Thank you to everyone for all of the kind words. I did have a choice to go to the other Sears Store across town, but I chose not to go. We had a lot of employees to go to the other store. It was time for me to leave. Hopefully Sears can make it for my fellow associates or they find other jobs. I will be job in the next couple of weeks. I intend to enjoy this time off. Thank You, and God Bless

I was suddenly let a few months back. Took some time to clear head and get resume updated. Got a super job with a great company that truly cares for and appreciates its people.....and prefers to weight the main effort in the field vice redundant layers of needless overhead.

Life is indeed so much better away from Sears. Hope it works out for all of those who have been let go or will be let go. Good Luck

My thoughts are with you. Even with whatever negatives came late in the game, you spent a good portion of your life there. It's funny to think about, huh.

Glad you have pension, severance 401k and don't forget unemployment. Now is the time to explore something else if you're so inclined.

You did the classy thing which was to finish strong and leave with you head held high! For that you're a batter person. I'm sure after a little time off you're going to find a much better position with a company that will reward your experience and hard work.

Thanks

They always offer to place you in a nearby store. The problem is that because of all the closing the nearest store can be hours away. When my store closed the DM came in and told us we could apply or transfer to another store. That store was an hour away. Many of the people did transfer and within a few months that store closed. Now the nearest Sears or Kmart to us is three hours away

"to get the place ready for the owners. "

Get it ready for what - to close down

I sure hope you negotiated for increased pay to work in a closed down store for another 10 days, if not then you sure are a fool cause I suspect SHC didn't offer to place employees in nearby stores

Best wishes to you in your future endeavors. We all will be joining you eventually, though most if us don't know the exact date. And many are still in denial.
