Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

80% of the traffic we get is troubleshooting. Now we're going to eliminate RSS while keeping quotas unobtainable?

We use RSS in alot of different ways, whether it be to help with a troubleshoot since VZW offers no training on tech support to reps, put on screen protectors or finish up a content transfer. Sometimes they even run the floor. Now we are going to eliminate these people and put even more work on the reps making it even harder to hit quota. How does any of this make sense?

Back in the day they had reps for every thing. Reps for tech only, reps for sales only and reps for customer care. Now they keep dumping more and more on people while reducing positions. Maybe if they increased pay for each thing they dump on you but they don't and why would they. Nobody speaks up or stands up to them so they continue dumping. It's not like this at other jobs. There are jobs out there you can make good money and just have one job rather than 100 different jobs. You're not the stores b--ch.

To @MErblgn-ztt, nobody could word it better. Your list is what an RSS is- the store fall guy. We have all of the responsibilities listed, no power to actually enforce change, and we are the ones blamed for mishaps for EVERY SINGLE RESPONSIBILITY you listed. I'm not sure how it works in other districts, but all of the RSS's within a 100-mile radius can mirror your list. Our entire work day can be spent on our "official" duties without completion, yet we are expected and always do more. Most management that I've worked with have no idea what they're doing with anything Ops related (security systems for demos, demo account management, facilities, itts, itsc, etc.), and the new inventory system can be as simplistic as it wants but that doesn't fix the back-end issues, necessary reporting and research, etc. If this spot is eliminated, I will truly have sympathy for the reduced ASM staff. They're expected enough to stay on the floor the entire day, and you know they will be delegated this role.

You need to see the writ on the wall. Verizon does not want its retail stores anymore. They don't want to set them up for success.

At indirect they get paid less and have to do all the customer service and support. Try looking at customer service as an opportunity to sell more stuff. You'd be surprised.

RSS here... yes I do sometimes install screen protectors and complete content transfers for guests, but almost always only at their request. I also greet, run the floor, take the customers the sales reps don't want, clean the store (and I'm talking mopping tile, dusting bulkheads type cleaning, because our cleaner usually only takes out garbage), keep merchandising at 100% compliance (easier said than done with hundreds of last minute changes and call out card errors), keep demo devices charging, alarmed, and functional, keep inventory organized (because heaven forbid a rep put something back where it belongs - they get paid too much to have to worry about such mundane tasks), check in shipment and put it all away, count and reconcile all devices twice per week, count and reconcile all demos and accessories once per month each, ship back returns, make sure we traded the right devices and send those back daily, explain what happened to put every metric on the Operations Scorecard where it is, pull these metrics at the rep level and coach to them to keep the business profitable, fill out ridiculous checklists every day, ISPU orders, check ins and promo brain storms with reps, alarm tests, facilities and IT tickets when I just can't fix things myself... but yeah, it's cool, $20/hr is way overpaid for this. I should be thankful to take a severance right? How about I have been thankful for this job and am scared as hell, because where else am I going to make what my work ethic is worth? No company in America pays decent wages any more. We are all screwed.

Cause these reps get paid a pretty decent pay to do excavation what you said, put on screen protectors. At the end of the day that isn't much. Convienet to the rep for sure but Verizon's quota is so high you are barely getting paid so they don't want to pay someone like me to put on a screen protector. I can't complain just hope my package is nice
