Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Hearing from reputable source Intel HR looking at sabbatical benefit and reassessing.

Could be a benefit that is lost or de decreased in 2017. Going for the jugular.

Sabbaticals were a way to reward and rejuvenate employees that had been putting in 60 hour plus weeks for many years..they were concerned they were going to lose valuable employees.

Roll the clock forward to today. THE URMS know they wont be laid off so they do now work very hard (some do, but in general they are not known to burn the midnight oil )

Intel wants to lay off the older folks ( I mean those with years of experience).

Sabbatical days are numbered guys.

Things are looking pretty grim for second half of 2017 and 2018.

With the ACTs they lost critical skill and experience and replacements are all knobs. The remaining people are all thinking that they better take it and many taking the four year option and string vacation. The huge number of experienced taking the benefit is creating huge issues across mutiple organizations. Pretty much more collateral damage from BK of ill thought out ACTs.

Now costs and business outlook is still look ugly, too few people and can't grow headcount, easy way to get more is elimination of sabbatical is like a 5% headcount increase and for a company that made the mistake of a blind 12k cut with VSP taking g even more valuable people it is the logical reaction to a terrible ACT

It would not surprise me. Ever since PSO took over, there has been a continuous erosion of employee wages and benefits.

On the flip side, with amount of wasted resources, it does not cost a dime for the company to keep.it and claim that it is a GPTW. It helps to have your employees work 100% and over time in a growth oriented environment, where employee attendance correlates with higher productivity. Intel is a half dead company, where ever senior employee gets by with doing powerpoints solely and pleasing the boss. So, if people do.not show up 2 out of 84 months, or if 2.5% of the company does not is absent all the time. When people are asked to work on projects that fizzle into nothing after years of hard work and the company does not even blink those responsible for it, the disappearance of 2.5% work force is immaterial. .

  1. No

  2. Sabbatical is part of the employment contract benefits.

  3. It doesn't cost too much money to Intel and only may demoralize.

  4. GPTW value.

If this goes intel really has lost all that it is, wouldn't surprise me give how the company has missed everything.

Andy was brilliant and made the right hand turns to CPUs.

CRB and PSO had the chance to make another right and turn and passed.

And now we got the clown from San Jose with no clue chasing ever hot fad and what is worse he has lost leadership of Moore and it is just empty foils from the spinners.
