Do a company wide 50k eisp...like in 2010

@2dmi if you were in a "meeting" when this EISP was discussed when was this projected to happen? Since you have the inside track and all.
If they would offer it to OPTs in Pa they would be able to move a lot of senior union workers from the books. We haven't seen an eisp in over 6 years.
They need to get people off the books. They better figure out something. If they don't offer at least the 50 grand no one would even consider it unless you were going to retire anyways.
It will probably not even be a 50k...if one even comes. They like to spring that 50K one in dec
@2dmi if you were really in a meeting with them complaining they didn't get their numbers in the last EISP then tell them to offer an across the footprint one, not a targeted one like the one they offered last year. They missed so many techs and others that want to go. I know cause I'm one of the techs that will go tomorrow if they offer one that they missed last go round.
In the book 50 grand is the largest lump sum
Verizon can offer 1 of the three outlined packages and they can offer it to pretty much whoever they want. There are plenty of reasons as well and the performance of the stock makes it easy.
I dont believe it either. Some call center do have surplus however.
2dmi. The union would not let that happen. They know people would leave for sure in a heartbeat. They would protect their interest. Plus I don't see Verizon offering that. They have never offered associates 100,000 to leave. 50 grand is the biggest. Your saying this is for field techs and FSC? They just hired so I don't see that happening! Sounds like a terrible rumor.
Verizon can really thin out the union right now.....but will they? There are some in all krafts that would go.
Hope 100k bonus for call center too
I was in a meeting in Basking Ridge last week, there were talks of new rif's up to 25%. Eisp's were discussed for technicians in the centers and in the central offices. They haven't got the numbers in the past, they're thinking about talking to the union about increasing a the 50,000 to 100,000 because everyone's pension has gone down.
ERC (wireline remote test center) fiber tech laid off this past week.
Dont wanna see anyone loose their job, but some mgr now have such low headcount i dont see a justification for keeping them around.
Wireline is not done with rifs, there are more coming this month. The rifs align with pay week. There were some in wireline that were let go this past week.
Wje nailed it...company doesn't do anything that makes sense. When trying to predict what vz mgt does, first i think logically, then go with the opposite. Most of these posters have no clue the levels of absurdity they achieve. I often wonder how vz hasn't ended up like enron yet.
Perhaps there's a concern that there's a labor-intensive build on the horizon, one that will need seasoned professionals who have toiled outside for years, in all sorts of weather, under the most severe conditions, and at all hours of the day and night, but always got the job done?
The last strike impacted their bottom line and was a public relations nightmare for Verizon. If they were smart they would offer a company wide EISP to thin out the union before the next contract. That makes sense so I highly doubt they will do that.
1mta,
What a response. They will not pay associates 130k to leave. I think it is about the same that they pay lower level mgrs to leave !! They will have to sooner or later. There will not be a strike in 2019. VZ got their butts kicked the last go around. By the way we work our asses off every day unlike most of our supervisors.
a nice company wide offer like the one back in 2010 would be nice.
MHKusHk-1irh Don't toy with our emotions.
Prove it!
It only benefits Verizon to get senior union associates off the payroll. They get a pension and lots of vacation time. The more that leave allows them to hire much cheaper replacements with no pension and much less per hour for a few years. That looks good to Wall st.
I have already broken vz..i choose when to leave...not like you other clowns.
There will only be targeted isps if at all. The days of paying union people 130k to leave are over. They can wait you out until the next contract and break you . Attrition. Roll you out of town to work anytime. They soon will have a workforce that they can rif,let go anytime they want .
Verizon will only offer an ISP or EISP that was described in that packet.
I don't see that happening
If they gave a 6 pack...plus 60 grand...I'd roll. Doubt it however.
I heard it's a 6&6 eisp coming out with an extra $60,000 cash tossed in for good measure. If true, no one will remain.
An ISP or an EISP is a great way to get a few off the payroll voluntarily. It wouldn't surprise me if we got an offer this week since that information was sent out last week. I have never received anything like that before. Usually the ISP/EISP just shows up.
I just wished they would give all is pre 2003 folks a whopper package.
From the sounds of it Wireless got hit harder than landline this time around. I also though it was odd that we received an ISP packet on changes but I did not see any changes in it. I have been with the company for over 20 years and do not recall getting this in the past. I am hoping that it means a buyout will be offered soon.
There were Wireline rifs the same day there were Wireless rifs .... Thursday 4/6. Several friends and associates were let go. It was a sad day on both sides. The difference is on the Wireless side, there have been rifs like this for YEARS. In years past, sometimes every quarter.
I found that packet odd as well. Who knows what the mgt is doing. They need some rifs. Lots of waste for a shrinking union work force.
I have heard no news on RIFs, but VZ sent out a booklet via snail mail detailing the scenarios of any packages that may be offered during the contract. This was weird because usually corporate doesn't do that; but I'd rather have all the information out there early.
