I moved away from family and everything I know to a different district with my child... I moved to be an assistant store manager everything was crazy from the start soon after I moved the gm that hired me moved to another store and I had an acting gm and things were just crazy he didn't know what he was doing and talked down to me and told me this and this I was doing was wrong but never told me how to do them right I was just told I needed to step up ... when he told me to coach the employees they would call him crying and he would flip it on me ... long story short I can't afford to be here unemployed but my child needs to finish the school year so they don't fail for my sake of moving here for a better job ... I spent my savings and the small relo bonus getting here... I've been here 4 months and don't know what to do I'm gonna have to buy my lease out and all this plus stay a few months so my child can finish school and not get stuck in the cracks of moving state to state ... I'm really upset and don't know what to do... I picked up my life and moved for Verizon with the hope of a better life but just cut with a sad severance package as I've been with the company 3 years and no job and not much to get me back to a support system... I'm really at a loss and don't know what to do

Honestly go to another wireless carrier or wherever, companies tend to like to hire Verizon people.
Also, make sure your children are now changed to free lunch and get some other subsidies to hold you over...I mean this is what it's for.

Changes to retail are going to happen. More will be coming. You would not be very astute if you didn't see that. The real problem is the peraon who approved tgis position to be posted knew what was coming, or should have. To cause hardship like this to this person and many others is a sign of a morally corrupt person. And that's what is wrong with the company today.
I was with Verizon 20 years this month. I started as customer service when it was GTE. Then a few years ago, I became Ops. Nov of 2016, I then became an RSS. I recently just went to Winner Circle. Then on April 6th, I got called in to managers office at 10am telling me I have until May 5 to either find a job within Verizon, or seek elsewhere... Never did I think this would happen... God has a plan for all of us!! Good luck to all of us!!

Ignore the troll and nonsense that @ukg posted. First you need to stop stressing. Forget the praying as you need to spend your time creating a back up plan. Do you have college degree? If not, then certifications? If your job is not cut then you need to go into planning mode versus panic mode. I recommend that you look at education and company provides up to $8K to management upfront. Look at what is available in your area as far as jobs, look at qualifications and plan using those qualifications. You said it clear, you have a child and as a parent you cannot panic. Your child depends upon you and you can do this especially if you were able to pick and go. Most importantly, do not let pride and dumb people like @ukg tell you not to use resources available to you. I'm sure they are guilty of using government assistance but look at it as their right. Well you paid into the system so it is your right. Wish you the best in the path you take but this is just a blimp on the the radar of your career. As for the idiot manager, I recommend that you document. Send emails requesting improvements versus allowing only verbal discussions. You need documentation so that if you ever need to go to HR, you have your proof.

I've been on food stamps in the past and worked 2 jobs in the past...I believed in Verizon and gave them my everything so I didn't have to go back to that these past 3.5 years ... by everything I mean I've missed... birthdays.. graduations.. thanksgiving.. Christmas Eve ..weddings... school activities.. every weekend.. just so much for the company I pored my life in to and moved for ... now my advice is going back to the life of government assistance... I missed so much for a "career" to be back where I started but worse ... Verizon gave me hope and I gave them everything for 3.5 years even relocated ... I feel like I drank the kool aid....
It might help some but please don't assume everyone shares your belief system. To me, praying is a waste of time that can be spent more productively. Each to their own, but don't tell people that your way is the right way.
I was going to say that too. Look for jobs where you are now. See if there is training provided in conjunction with unemployment. Obviously I don't know your background but even though training might feel like a step back, it could be a step forward.
What about food stamps & welfare? Some see those as dirty words but I think you should use them if you qualify. I haven't yet but I would if I needed to. Especially food stamps to feed my kids. I know it's called something else right now but you know what I am referring to.
As someone already asked, what state are you in? And you should be getting child support if you aren't already. The father of my children pays the lowest rate on the chart but it still helps. Every little bit does.
First thing....pray. vz is NOT your sole provider...the good Lord is. Take a deep breath and collect yourself. Then, start looking for another job in the area you live now. If it isn't vz money, work 2 jobs to make up the difference. Plan, pray and keep calm. That is a start.
