Google's Machine Learning Chips Beat Intel and Nvidia

http://www.investopedia.com/news/googles-machine-learning-chips-beat-intel-and-nvidia-goog-intc/

In a paper that will be presented in June, Google outlined its benchmarking tests conducted against Intel's Haswell microprocessor and Nvidia’s K80, which the company bills as the world's fastest GPU (chips used in gaming platforms) accelerator. Google measured the number of operations performed per second by its chip versus those from the other two companies. It found that the TPU was 14.5 times as fast as the Intel processor and 13.2 times as fast as Nvidia's chip.

The business implication of this development is that Google can save costs through significantly reducing its data center footprint by using the chips in its machines.

Well, good job Intel Board of Directors and Brian Krzanich. Keep chasing fads while tier 1 customers develop their own substitute chips. Apple and others are not far behind Google and when Intel's server revenue begins to decline, Intel will collapse like a cardboard box.

This is ALL SO ill-timed as the next Easter-Day or Memorial-Day sale event... I'm SO confused... where do I get the money to "cash-in" on ALL THESE SAVINGS??

I should've invested in Intel and Google in the "early" years... those companies... such "great stewards" of humanity...

Wow, GPU acceleration... that's needed in the datacenters... I might as well go do some work for the Colombians...

Means the billions spend on 10nm is of minimal value without getting high yields and huge volumes.

Server buying guys are looking and all and any ways to not pay intel rape high prices after getting phucked over by them for billions. They can't wait to find an ARM plus accelerator solution.

Servers will be under severe price pressure just like client.

Can't wait to see Diane's next ACT
