Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

RSUs are coming!

Good news ladies and gentlemen. RSUs are coming next week.

The guidance is to give to 80% of GL10, and to 95% GL11 and GL12. Lower grades only in very specific circumstances.

No RSUs this time for G13 and above (on CORP plan), but they received grants this fall.

Bringing reality back. This thread was from 2017.
This time the RSU went out to G11 and below. G12 and up is later in the year following the “fix” that HR put in last year to give certainty to the reward cycles.

That's a fantastic question, and until recently, I didn't know there was a difference. All I know is that the DSAP ones are in northern spring/Q3 and the others in autumn/Q1. They don't seem to be different in terms or function.

What is DSAP RSU? How does it different from on-going RSU?

Hi OP, thank you for your post! Your info is credible! This site is awesom!

I don't believe limit for Grade 12 would be lower then this (1500)

No, the limit was because we got re-orged under another exec cloud and the new chiefs didn't want to fight for us as they wanted the shares for their own pets. This is one of the biggest HR issues in Cisco, your career is totally dependent on your management. If it s---s, or has another agenda, you are completely in the wilderness. And even when they aren't being Machiavellian, being pushed to a new org means a 2-3 years of dry times until they start to realise you do more than exist.

RSUs is like fool's gold. There to keep you hooked without having to give you a raise up front. Then they axe you.

I'm Grade 11 in engineering, and received 1500 RSUs this time - so I don't believe limit for Grade 12 would be lower then this.

nothing again :(

no raise, no rsu, nothing for 5 years now. and to top that off - I got only 95% of the bonus last year.

Lucky you, I think 800 is the max permissible for Gd 12.

Received my DSAP of 800 today at Gd 12. Only ever got ongoing before. Didn't realize there were different levels, in fact, still not sure what the difference is.

How come only sales people reporting rsu? Anyone from engineering? I ask my manager and he said no rsu for developer? I hope not only sale people get them. We work harder.

Web-letters are to be released this week as far as I know - at least in the US.

DSAP? Is this still alive? I heard from my management chain that it was eliminated completely.

No news yet, though most of the Cisco world is asleep on Easter Monday.

G8-11 typically get the same ONGO (ongoing) RSU's of ~500. 550 is the number I heard last year for a 10.

Real Q: how many DSAP are going? DSAP usually 1000, not to be sniffed at!

did anyone get RSUs this week? If yes, which locations?

I used to be rewarded with thousands of RSU until my manager became an Indian. The new rule of game has been villiagism and nepotism. If you are not an Indian in Cisco, you can forget about it now no matter what you have contributed.

how much are usually given to grades 10 & 11? I was given 400 a couple of years back.

I received RSUs last year and was LR'd a few months later. So, you can receive RSUs for doing a good job, and get axed shortly thereafter.

RSU's really aren't worth very much until you string a few years of them back to back. Then your vesting date includes vests from multiple grants - then it's worth something substantial. But it's almost impossible to do that, not least because they don't regularly issue them. I've also had a run of a few years where I got an average amount, then next few got absolutely none, and now get a chunk. Only difference is my direct manager.

Take any other company in high-tech and compare their % increase over 3 yrs to Ciscos. Look at how much $$$ we're losing by waiting for that pittiful-pile of RSUs to vest.

Look at Cisco over a 10yr period, even worth.

Webletters are due on 19th. But brace yourselves - the number and size of grants is pitiful this time. Be sure to remember to be grateful that the share price has gone up so the family gives you way less shares. That's right - you too can benefit from the success of the business.

I think rsu vesting halts at resignation date

by

Post ID: @1ksn+MJz4QuQ

Suppose I have 30 days notice in my contract and I resign less than 30 days before an RSU vest. In that case I am supposedly a Cisco employee on the vest date.

Do I get the RSU?

They may indeed dish out RSU's and tell you to keep up the good work in a webletter but then still LR you on the next round before any of them vest...that does happen, I know!! So even if you are 'lucky' enough to get RSUs now, they could be worth jack S--t, and it certainly doesn't mean you are 100% safe from the cull that is coming. I reckon looking for new roles outside Cisco from July is a good call, then if you are caught up in the LR's you are likely to already have or be close to getting an offer on the table which will make any payout from Cisco even sweeter should it come in Aug-Sept. If you then don't get LR but have a job offer anyway the odds are it will be for better money and include a load of new RSUs from the new company.. so it's win/win :-)

I have to say, the OP sounds about right - the last I heard, they were coming about now for GL <13. Not sure I believe it will be widely dispersed, I heard it was going to be fairly narrow (like it wasn't narrow enough before?)

You have your facts crossed. RSU pools are limited and focused disti is below grade 12.
