Efficiency cut

The business unit need to reduce 50% workloads to gain efficiency by outsourcing or adapting new technologies , what will happen to the headcount after efficiency is gained?

Hope Murthy does the right thing and pulls the lay-off trigger.

If the efficiency is meassured in revenues per employee Murthy is right, the metric improves every time employees are fired.

That efficiency metric will be optimal when Murthy has outsourced all the work but his own to an indian company owned by a friend of him and he is the only employee in the company.
