Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Leadership doesn't know how to run the business

I truly feel that all company leadership (including CEO) should have to work in a Macys location for a week as an associate annually to learn what the customers need and want on an ever changing basis and see what it really is like running a store based on a staffing model you create from stupid reports. I keep hearing "been with the company over 30 years, so on and so on". But if an executive may have worked in the actual stores 30 years ago, they have no clue how to run it or what it needs now! Listen to your associates for a change. We know what the company needs because we are out there in the field dealing with the customers and know what they want! Leadership needs to stop relying solely on reports and focusing so much on the internet only (it still only makes up a fraction of sales including the increase in online spending) and pay attention to the reality that customers want tonand are trying to shop in our stores, but can't because we are being staffed and stocked to the bare bone. I shouldn't be getting 20 of something on a truck and then sending it out through fulfillment by the time the next sale is on. T completely excludes the in store customers who want to buy these items. I would love to see the look on these excutices faces if they had to tell a customer "sorry, I don't have any in stock right now. But I can order it for you!" knowing it was in stock and all was sent to online customers. We should always keep some for the stores while still satisfying the online aspect. I could go on and on about so much more.

Any further information on a BK filing? I could see it happening as an excuse to close a huge number of stores. This way of doing business is just not economically sustainable much longer.

The latest rumor is that we might be filing bankruptcy soon. Folks who got out early with packages are lucky ones. If filed then there will be no package or severance. I see associates are already finding jobs outside and leaving the corporate office. I don't think waiting for package is an option anymore. People on the technology side say they have been sitting and twiddling their thumbs since January as they have no funds to work on.

most every magic survey response says "i could not find anyone to help me". and Like solders or idiots we stand at our morning rally and tell our associates to be visible and approach the customers. knowing that it is physically impossible for one associate to cover 10,000 sq ft, pick internet orders, provide actual service, check fitting rooms, act as loss prevention because they are standing at the register processing online returns all day. its nonething to run in the negative in the morning for hours because of internet returns
